I have 2 Howa 1500s, 1 has the HACT trigger/3 position safety, the older has the same trigger and 3 position safety as yours. I bought 2 older triggers in hopes of replacing the HACT. Both of those are single stage & 2 position safeties, but neither will fit my rifles, the raised cross part on them didn't line up in the groove on the rifles. Great info here, like you mentioned, all I find is info for HACT triggers, which I did follow for an improvement. I still haven't adjusted the single stage yet. Thanks!

I have a howa 1500 with three stage safety. I could not make is softer trigger with screw. I took the spring out and cut 1-1\2 coils off. Perfect trigger.

I’m not understanding what the backing out of the screw and tightening the nut is supposed to do? Seems like when it’s where you want it, they look loose enough to rattle out with bigger calibers. Do you back there sear screw out first to where you want it then tighten the nut around it to keep it in place?

You have series 1. Thats a problem when hunting. If the bolt gets hit up little bit it wont fire. They fixed that w the series 2. The saftey locks the bolt like it should

3 year old video but.. model should be VSR223RR20 I bought a series 2 myself right when they came out but this was a vanguard varmint edition of some sort with the heavy barrel post series 1 but definitely before the s2 came out. I remember looking at them, I can only assume that's why you have a series 1 safety with what looks like a series 2 trigger or at least the very beginning of what trigger was introduced for the series 2. Not suprised it wouldn't work the same without that third position on the safety. I bet if a series 1 trigger fit on there it would function just as a series 1 safety does. Hope this brings you some closure lol awesome rifles though I love mine!

Hey mate...from the states here..I'm having the same exact scenario as you...to where weatherby says that with the safety on..I should not be able to open the bolt?..I have the same series as you which I believe is a series 2..

So same as me, You have 2 stage safety. Fire Or Safe but you can still action the bolt to eject a round but cannot pull the trigger?

@@dhern2613 yes and I'm not sure why...I have 3 other weatherby's that do not allow this to happen..just started researching timney triggers and I might just drop one of those in my 7mm-08.

Weatherby series 2’s have a THREE position safety. All series 2’s, fire, safe with a moving bolt, and safe with a bolt locked closed. If yours doesn’t have a three position safety it is a series one This must be a series one

i did the ebay spring job on my howa after swearing i wouldnt for a couple of years.....wish id done it day one. trigger is way better now ive lightened the spring to 1.5lb+/-, and it feels like an aftermarket deal now.

Is that normal for the bolt to be hard to open after you pull the trigger? Seems pretty stiff

Thats strange about your safety mate. I have a s1 and can't cycle the bolt on safe

the later version is a three position safety, ....fire/cycle safe/locked in safe

2 stage triggers can make you talk to yourself...nice for target but getting used to for hunting..
