Problem solved Lucy! I took off the top cover of the actuator and found a broken piece of plastic ring that was stuck and I wouldn’t of found that if I hadn’t watched your video thank you once again 👍

Thank you Lucy for the video. I purchased a replacement actuator at 180 degree to replace a broken actuator. Couldn't for the life of me understand how my pool guy was able to make the old 180 degree actuator function as a 90 degree actuator. Made the proper adjustment based on your video and saved me from having to return and exchange for a 90 degree actuator.

Lucy, this is my first pool and having zero knowledge or past experience but will try and repair till it's fixed or out of my leauge, my spa drained every night so research told me it was the check valve, removed and inspection showed no wear, I replaced (easy) was not the problem, came across your video was skeptical due to the handle was only slightly off to drain that much water in a few hours, squared up the handle as a test and sure enough problem solved so I will be adjusting cam as per your instructions, thank you for taking the time to make this video

David, I don't know why I can't reply directly to your question, so I hope you find this answer. I do believe you can adjust to any angle you want. Many are preset to 180* because it's used most often that way. I just had to adjust another one the other day that was 180* and I had to set it to almost 45*. So, I believe it can be done. Hey there- Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. Recovering from spine surgery. Depending on where it's leaking...usually the lid and 2 stem 'O' rings need to be replaced when you open these up. Use a little lube with them. I'll be more diligent in responding. leroy wordlaw There are little ‘teeth’ where the screwdriver can be placed in order to nudge it forward. I apologize for not thinking about using a flashlight. At the time it was being shot the replay looked ok. I hope you can figure it out once you get in there. Lucy

s2focused Sorry for late response. You may want to check the relay switch inside the panel. Tiny things towards the top. Easiest way is to remove the connections on the spa relay and switch it with a different relay i.e. the pump relay. Just pull out the wires from the spa relay and plug in the wires from the pump or heater. If it turns on then it’s the relay switch. I’m shooting from the hip as I don’t know anything about your particular system. If this doesn’t make sense then message me again and give me more details please.

Thanks Lucy , yes the toggle is not on neutral I switched from on 1 & 2 and it dies not move I can turn it manually. I don't know what position it should be on. The spa valve actuator turns and is working Where can I send you pictures?

Send to [e-mail] You shouldn't be able to turn the valve manually, if you mean turning by hand. Be sure the switch on your outside panel is set on 'pool' and not 'spa'; 'spa drain' or ;spa fill'. Pictures will help. Do you live in Las Vegas?

+biggstell Many times the valve is just a little off if it gets loose. To save yourself time, open the actuator on the SUCTION side, since that doesn't have a check valve. Once you have it open, inspect the gasket to see if the rubber is worn out. If so, you'll need to replace the internal valve. If not worn down, then you'll have to re-set the cam to be perfectly lined up. I hope I explained this in the video. Please let me know if it resolves your issue. Good luck, Lucy

hi lucy, hopefully you can help me. can I replace a VOR-24 with a CVA-24, my VOR is down and can't find a replacement. there are plenty of CVAs around and my compool syst is already running one. can my system run two cvas instead of one cva and one vor? I believe I have a compool 3400.

To be sure, I put in a call to Electric Motor Works because I haven't heard of a VOR...neither have they. We agreed that since you have a Compool system, most likely you would be able to replace it with a CVA (the C is for Compool). JVA (the J is for Jandy). I don't want to confuse you, that was merely for information. You cannot interchange those valves, but since your "VOR" has been installed and was working with your Compool system, I see no reason why you couldn't replace it. If you want to double check, the number to Electric Motor Works is 702-871-7500. I hope this helps...and thanks for watching, Lucy

Can you send me a few pics of your system? Also, have you tried moving the valves manually? In other words...is the toggle in neutral? If so, then the valve won't turn when the spa button is pushed on the panel. The toggle needs to be either up or down in order for the panel to work. Pictures would help me help you figure this out. Hopefully you received this response via your email. There could be an different reason why your spa is draining sometimes. I need to know if it's draining while the system is running or when it's off...and you wake up to a half full spa. Different solutions

If you can, much appreciated. I have a hot tub pool combo and last night the hot tub drained dry. I did a check of the actuators and one actuator manual toggle switch doesn't do anything so I am guessing that is the issue. Are these things worth trying to fix or just buy a new one? The equipment is Pentair with solar and gas heat and about 7 years old.

Graph Guy First check to see if toggle is not in the neutral position. If it’s in the center (neutral) then the panel can’t communicate with the switch. I’ve tried replacing the inner mechanisms but to be honest it’s much less of a hassle to replace the entire valve. Plus you have a warranty.

So as it is right now, my pool is not pumping water, the robot wont' work, the hot tub drains. That tells me the actuator that stopped working is the one that controls the valve that allows water to come from the pool to the equipment. Can I take off the actuator and manually turn the valve so that I can repower the system to get the filter/pump/robot going? I have a service call in for them to come fix it, but I don't want to have the pool not being filtered until they get here as this happened Friday night.

It's it possible to adjust the cams (JVA2444) to rotate to any position, e.g. open to the zero degree position and close to 76°? Or, 165°? The intent is to move to a position that mostly, but not completely, closes a return.

Hi Charles, Yes it is possible to adjust them to any degree. (As long as you're not blocking the inlet or outlet). I've done it, for instance, to have a little spill over from the spa to pool, or if the system is plumbed a certain way, have a small amount flow down a water feature. The thing to remember is that whatever you open, the water will be less strong in the other area. Also, and this is VERY important, if you have an in-floor cleaning system, the check valve is usually plumbed into the spa port near the gears because the builder assumes that you want all the water to flow to the pop-ups. Soooo, if that is the case, and you open the spa actuator, you will need to install a check valve directly in that specific spa return line. I know you didn't ask me that particular question, but I wanted to cover this because if not, the water will drain down to the pool level when the system is off. Hope this helps. Lucy
