What does the Philips screw head that is underneath the nozzle do? I know the top one adjusts the throw of the water for instance I have an orbit pro 12A. So turning the center flat head screw will get me or lose me some feet. But I don't know what the Phillips head screw underneath it does.

I am getting brown spots, within 2' of the front of my orbit sprinkler head. I opened a can of tuna, ate the tuna, and placed the empty can in various places around the sprinkler. After running the sprinkler for 8 minutes, I was seeing in the brown areas that the water was about 1/4" deep in the can after the 8 minutes, but in the green areas the water in the tuna can was nearly at the top. Are there better quality adjustable sprinkler nozzles that will have more uniform distribution of water? In other areas of my lawn, I use the Orbit double distance brass heads which are not adjustable, and see no problem at all. Using the tuna measurement, the water distribution around those heads is much more even.

Our twin spray nozzles can help on this, however, they are not available in adjustable patterns; only fixed: www.homedepot.com/p/Orbit-15-ft-1-2-Pattern-Brass-Twin-Spray-Nozzle-53227W/203106505

@@orbitsprinklers Sounds like a market opportunity. Here in California, we are in a drought situation, and when sprinklers can distribute water uniformly, our big problem is alleviated, abeit only somewhat. You can help by having some of your work-at-home engineers develop a sprinkler head which distributes the water uniformly after adjusting the angle of deposition. If you need help, then please ask; although I have a SM in electrical engineering from MIT, i have a background in fluid dynamics and would be easily able to design a sprinkler head which would adjust the angle of deployment and maintain a uniform concentration of water over the covered area. I'm sure you have an engineering team that can do at least as well. thanks

Do these adjust down distance ? Or do they start approx at marked distance and go up a couple feet ? Thanks
@orbitsprinklers4 жыл бұрын
Hello, the center screw adjusts distance, however, please note that will only be a couple feet at most. after that we'd recommend moving up to the next highest nozzle.
@frankc64305 жыл бұрын
how about the regular pattern nozzels (all black) ,how do you adjust the distance? I replaced a new popup head nozzle by matching what was installed , but the screw on top would not go either way ?? do i have to unscrew the bottom one? am I missing something?,
@orbitsprinklers5 жыл бұрын
The regular pattern are indeed adjusted by the screw in the center. The screw can be tough to get moving. Please note that even under ideal circumstances the middle screw on these will only adjust the pattern by a couple feet at most.

I just installed some new pop-up sprinklers and one of them leaks between the white seal and the pop-up portion . What do I do?
@orbitsprinklers4 жыл бұрын
This would signal a bad wiper seal. These do wear out and we sell replacements: www.orbitonline.com/product/pop-up-sprinkler-wiper-seal-400-series/ However, if these are new installs, they should not be doing that. Please send us your contact info via private message on one of the linked social channels and we'll get in touch to get this resolved.

Is there an adapter where i can remove nozzle, install adapter to raise up maybe 1-2 inches then reinstall nozzle?
@orbitsprinklers6 жыл бұрын
No, nothing like that exists. This is because the nozzle needs to close flush to the sprinkler. What you would probably want to look into is a 6-inch pop up (we make one, model 54100). On that you could replace the nozzle, even the cap if you wanted the soft cap shown in this video.

@vintageous5854 жыл бұрын
@@orbitsprinklers 'Certainly tough' is an understatement. You can downright injure yourself trying to loosen up the screws on these. Would help if you guys didn't over-torque your screws closed all the way. I am returning all the Orbit professional sprinkler heads I bought, and going back to your competitors.

If you remove the top nozzle, and turn it upside down, you will see a phillips screw head. I hold the nozzle with vice-grips carefully adjusted to prevent damaging the nozzle, and then use my Black and Decker power screwdriver to run this screw in and out maybe 10 times. after a few of those passes, the interference fit between the plastic and the phillips screw loosens up enough to let me adjust it using the mini-screwdriver from the top after re-assembly. Don't remove the screw and use a tap on the plastic, it will be too loose and the distance sprayed will change over time.

Remove the center screw using a Phillips screwdriver on the Phillips screw side and coat the screw with Petroleum jelly. Put the screw back and screw it in and out a few times and the problem is fixed. The Petroleum Jelly has never caused damage to my lawn and/or plants. Good luck.

I just bought Orbit brass metal full and half spray heads. I cannot seem to adjust the DIRECTION (not fullness) of the spray on the half spray ones. If I loosen the whole sprinkler head to point the two arrows in the right direction, it leaks at the base. Twisted counterclockwise if you are talking about the nozzle that he is showing, you pull it up hold the bottom of it that comes out and then turn the nozzle counterclockwise until it comes off be sure to check the screen when you do that
