The locking nuts lock together, when lowering you spin the top one into the bottom and cause they are locked will spin everything down. When you go up you need to rotate the other way, but using the other nut so it keeps tight and locked on the other one. The instruction on it are clear so you dont affect your preload.

So youre changing the total shock body length without limiting your bump travel. What happens when the car takes a large bump? Your shock bump travel is greater than the distance between your tires and wheel welds. What is stopping that large bump? Your bumpstops or your fenders?

Every tutorial I see is basically doing the same thing as this guy did in the video. What would be the correct way to go about adjusting ride height then? New car guy tryna learn stuff
@VinRZ5 ай бұрын
@phenomenon000 I'd checkout "togue time" video called "how to setup coilovers correctly" But if you have good coilovers like KW, MCS, and JRZ, Then you don't need to worry about all the lower shock body mount, and spring perches "preload" (preload is not a real thing if you have linear springs) All these high-end shocks use spring perches to adjust ride height. Because they have a correct shock body for bumpstop and helper springs to adjust ride height

I was able to raise my f32 (with BC coilovers) using your method (moving the 1st ring counter clockwise). I just now learned that you’re suppose to move the 2nd ring to raise the vehicle. Is this okay? Did I mess up preload? It seemed to be driving fine on the road.

@houstonhalos7767 Жыл бұрын
Just be careful you dont mess up the preload on the spring itself. If you do it too much chances are it will and then your ride height will not be the same. Make sure you measure the height of the spring before and after you are done and make sure it matches the before and also the other side spring. I also measure the gap between the collars and compare with the other side as well.

Isn’t this why most people spin the 2nd ring (especially when lowering) so the springs don’t spin along and mess with the preload? I was told do NOT spin the first ring, only adjust the 2nd and the 3rd lock ring.

Yea, if you wanna slam your car, you need to get corner balanced. There's a point where you lower it so much that you rub your fenders before engaging the bump stops. You need to know how much the corners weigh and use preload to set ride height.

I thought when raising the car you spin the second ring to the right…. Not the top to the right
@irwinsalgado1553 Жыл бұрын
U not wrong the bottom ring would spin to the right to raise it and the top ring would spin to the left to lower it not not mess up the spring rate
@AyyGin4 ай бұрын
This is correct. It technically worked for the guy in this video because of how tight the 1st and 2nd ring were spun together but it's not the "right way". To raise car: Turn 2nd ring counterclockwise To lower car: Turn 1st ring clockwise 3rd ring is just there to lock everything in place, which everyone can agree on. Doing it this way ensures the 1st ring and 2nd ring are always spinning towards each other (and not change the spring length)
