Thanks so very much Mr. Movie Studio Zen. I have followed your tutorials since Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12 and you present your information in a super understanding way. It's like going to a Sony Vegas Pro/Movie studio University and getting a Master Operator's Degree. Thanks.

WOW! What perfect timing Derek. I had recently posted a comment about you possibly making a tutorial explaining what that masking option was for and how to use it. Thank you for putting this together with such through explanation. It is GREATLY APPRECIATED!

I have used the cookie cutter method before and it worked pretty good, but I love this masking method. It gives me more control. As always your videos are great. Thanks Derek

I see! We are not far - we have a violin shop in Eagle Farm (Animato Strings). Trying to edit a video that shows an underexposed presenter next to a white screen who introduced his violin teaching method yesterday.

Hi.. Can you make a tutorial for matching color/exposure of green screen subjects to any background video or image. What would a good process to follow. Thanks.

Thanks Derek! The keyboard shortcut flashcard is a good addition; as is the 'talking head' insert and your comment to increase the playback speed if anyone found you to be talking too slowly made me laugh. Lol, come on dude! I watch to get that calm, mellow Aussie, space cadet action! Ah, no offence meant or intended!

Great informative video for a beginner like me. I started looking into this because of my drone footage. How do you proceed with masking and color correcting if you got a; lets say 5 minutes of drone footage and there is not only sunset/rise but also other aerial views? Do you just chop different sections of the clip and edit each one? Maybe use the same editing on the whole clip and chop it up for different settings on mask?

Chopping the video up into different "Scenes" is the easiest method. If you press S for Split and keep the different video sections "butted up" against each other, you will not notice any gap between the video when you play it back.

Hi, I have some hand held video footage and in the background is a set of lights directly behind the subject which shines into the lens causing over exposure. I want to darken these lights or even remove them entirely. Is there a way of doing this considering this hand held footage and movement on the camera? Thanks :-)

It can be very difficult to do something like this and will require a huge amount of patience. If you has the latest version of Vegas Pro, it now has a tracking feature which you can use in conjunction with what I taught in this tutorial. There is a basic tutorial on the new tracking feature here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqvCgX2LhqaVppY

Really struggling on white levels. I am not sure you can help. I filmed my first dance recital and the spot light made the kids look like ghosts. Never shot this kind of event so new experience and didn't see it on back of cameras. It looked okay. I have tried adjusting the contrast and white levels but it affects the whole scene and the kids still look like ghosts. If you can help with any suggestions how to make them look human it would be appreciated.

The best way to fix White Balance, is to set the White Balance correctly in your camera BEFORE you start recording video. What model camera are you using? If you forget to set the White Balance "in camera", you can adjust this with your video editing software. There is a White Balance Video FX you can apply. For this Video Effect to work properly, you need to find something that is meant to be WHITE in your video and sample it. Apply the White Balance effect and then use the Eye Dropper to sample a white area. The video should automatically be corrected. You may need to adjust the sliders "slightly" to get the perfect fix. If you need more help with this, post a message on my forum here: www.moviestudiozen.com/forum/index
