@KHAN This question is actually really hard to answer because not long ago I was pretty lazy as well. I just couldn't get any motivation to create new content so I don't want to be all "inspirational" and talk to you like I'm hustling all the time. Nevertheless this is what made me create constant content again: 1. I set myself a goal of creating 1 video per week. I did that because this channel is important to me and I didn't want to let it go to waste. 2. I created the content I was actually excited about and not something that I was expected to do. Create the content you love and you will have a easier time creating videos, because it doesn't feel like a you need to fulfill some kinda task but actually you do something you enjoy. 3. Just start. No matter how hard it is at the beginning, force yourself to do it as soon as you are within the process of making a video, there is simply no going back. Hope this answer could help you!

Vegas edit flow is so much quicker. Editing on Adobe takes double the time. Maybe even more. All programs crash. Doesn't matter which programs you use. Its normal. This is your Personal Preference. I've worked on Adobe. Its like people feel fancy when they say they using "Adobe" to edit. Lol Nothing special about Adobe. If you know what you looking for and have the skills to create a video, Vegas can do just as much as Adobe. I have both Editing Software on my PC. I can open several Vegas Project at once and Render several projects at the same time. Adobe cannot do that. I have tight deadlines and will never be able to deliver work on time if i use Adobe. This is My Personal Opinion. No need to bad mouth Vegas.

@@Kimchi_Studios So much quicker bro. VEGAS timeline gives you as editor a lot of freedom to move Video and Audio. To fade in and out is such a hastle when in Vegas you create a fade with with your Mouse curser. PREMIERE just feels tight. I'll still be using Vegas for a very long time
@theletterisb
@theletterisb 4 жыл бұрын
Hey there Bravin, I wouldn't say it quicker than Premiere Pro. You simply got used to it. I can bet with you that if you would be forced to work with Premiere Pro again, you would at some point get comfortable with it. So I can't really agree with your argument regarding "Adobe taking double the time" here, please don't take this as hate! I respect your opinion and if you feel happy with VEGAS Pro then definitely stick to it. I just want to give you my feedback on the points you are mentioning. "All programs crash", as I stated in the video already I agree with that. Personally, things got a lot better for me regarding that specific issue since the switch, and no one can't deny that VEGAS Pro disproportionately crashes quite often or starts lagging within the preview. If this wouldn't be the case, my "crash fixes for vegas pro" video would not have received so much attention. I remember when I used Sony Vegas 7.0, and it never crashed on me, no matter how complex the timeline. Since any double-digit version though, things got a lot worse. "It's like people feel fancy when using Adobe", this is just an allegation of yours and I wouldn't agree with that. As I said within the video, it's just the "industry standard" and you will have to be able to use it as a professional. No client will allow any design work made in VEGAS Pro. They want finished Illustrator or Photoshop files that they can edit if they need to. Only sometimes people will accept finished .mp4 or .jpegs. Just an example. For people that are not professionals I still would suggest Adobe. You will feel that as soon as you want to create some kinda motion tracking for your video. That's also the reason why I made the "Final Cut Pro" example. Even those guys rely on other Adobe programs while editing or just creating a thumbnail. "Nothing special about Adobe. If you know what you looking for and have the skills to create a video, Vegas can do just as much as Adobe." Only to some extend. Within VEGAS Pro there are no simple transition and effect presets that I can install within seconds. The color grading within VEGAS Pro doesn't give you basic options like "Exposure" or adjusting the "Black" and "Whites" properly. Only work-arounds. "I have both Editing Software on my PC. I can open several Vegas Project at once and Render several projects at the same time. Adobe cannot do that." I'm happy that you are lucky and can actually work with VEGAS Pro so easily. Unfortunately I never could do that in regards to opening up the program multiple times at once. If you want to render and keep on editing within Premiere at the same time, just use the Adobe Encoder. Once again, this is no hate! I respect your opinion, I'm glad you feel so comfortable with it, but I just couldn't leave this unanswered. Stay safe and healthy brother!

@Nathaniel Walker Both points are completely wrong. Vegas Pro is a moderately powerful DAW where Premiere is not, it needs Audition. And doing the audio and video at the same time saves a lot of time. And the crossfades are HUGELY important both for audio and for video, it's how you use them. I've worked professionally with VEGAS Pro for more than 10 years. And I have been an official member of the dev team. These two reasons you mentioned are exactly what have been keeping me from moving to Premiere, for years. The advantages outweigh the drawbacks at this point, however. I will admit that. But know you are quite wrong. Premiere Pro would DEFINITELY do well to learn from VEGAS Pro some things pertaining to its basic audio/video editing interface.

That's true, and that's also the reason why I created so many text animation tutorials for VEGAS Pro in the early days. It's bummer they don't even have some simple animation presets including some type of realistic motion blur. Motion blur is so important to give a animation a natural feel. Adjusting animation curves with keyframes is also really important. Within After Effects I can easily adjust throughout the graph editor how hard or how soft my animation should be.

I started editing about a year ago for a friend doing VLOGS. I started with Filmora 9 and it was good no crashes. Switched to Vegas pro 17 because filmora didn't have key frames then. My efficiency went down due to crashes and lost 2 clients due to colours being darker and sometimes rendering a part of the video black/squashed lines. To be safe I had to render a project twice. Which is time consuming when you have a deadline. That's also why I switched to Premiere pro. I also use vegas pro for personal things like game montages and use the level things to get colours almost there but not for clients...like Bobby said, depends on what your needs are and what you're comfortable with. Vegas Pro 19 in 2021 is a major upgrade for content creators and now has more advanced color grading and many of the things you say are lacking in May 2020, with many new additions to its menu system. However, you may have some point that for team projects, handing off projects to other videographers, Adobe Premiere is more accepted for this, unless the team all has Vegas. For single users with moderate effects needed Vegas Pro is up to the challenge. I would be one of them. Not that many crashes I would experience as a moderate user, however I usually only do about 3 or 4 layers of video track (main video, B-roll, motion text layer, animation layer) and 3 layers of audio (voice and music dub and some sound effects). So it depends on what demands you needs on an editor. Just updated to a new Dell system for the recommended specs needed for 4K in vegas pro their website have listed, so we shall see how that goes. My Dell is loaded with 32 GB Ram, i7 - 8 core processor, Nvidia RTX 3060 12GB video card - 512 PCI SSD card + 2TB HD. New Vegas Pro 19 is loaded with content creation features and an improved interface. I used Vegas for over 10 years on different computers. One thing to remember, is that SSD for OS and software, can corrupt over time past 5 years and could need replacement (mine did) and could cause crashing. SSDs do wear down over time.

I’ve switched to premiere pro back in June of 2021. The reason is not only the crashes but some lack of features too. I'm late to the party here, but here's my input. I've been editing with Vegas for about two years now. However, since it's only a hobby, I edit a video every few months or so. I really want to learn After Effects because of its motion graphics capabilities, but I have one major problem with it: the re-occurring payment. As a one time payment, Vegas is considerably cheaper than Premiere Pro + After Effects as long as you never upgrade to newer Vegas versions. If you're a professional, then Adobe is an obvious choice. However, for non-professionals like me, the re-occurring payment is just too much to deal with.

So tried out Premiere Pro - wanted to give it a fair shot and do the very simple things like adding clips, making cuts, adding simple text animation, fading in and out. Adding sound, adjusting sound and then rendering. Well Premiere Pro well and truly sucks because it wouldn't stay open long enough for me to do much of that. It crashed with almost of my 4K clips, the ones that didn't crash it were 3 second long particles I rendered with After Effects lol. Premiere Pro seems to have better text options/presets but the manual animation process is rubbish. I'll stick to After Effects for all text work. I'm sticking to Vegas - based on this video and what others have said there is nothing, absolutely nothing that is so special about Premiere Pro that warrants people switching.

I totally get your point! You know what's a little sad about VEGAS Pro? The community around it is pretty old, that's why so many people still call it Sony Vegas, even when the software is now created by MAGIX, and there are not to many new tutorials around. Now regarding the subscription plan, I also gotta say it's kinda unfair that photographers get Photoshop and Lightroom for 10 bucks, and if you do anything in regards to video editing you pay double the price for one piece of software a month. But maybe (if you are interested) you should ask for a special deal. I think they offer some kinda "student discount" for those that are actually students. Nevertheless even those 20 bucks for Premiere Pro are not the greatest price, it's not to different from people having Netflix or Spotify subscriptions. Back in the days you could actually buy Adobe products for one final price but the programs were extremely expensive and only companies could afford to buy those. That's why Adobe decided to create the subscription based model, that will give you the lastest version all the time, without the need to buy any upcoming update. Of course they also want to make more money but everyone does that. At the end I can only thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kind words! Cookie cutter? I know what you mean with your statement, and at the beginning things might feel uncomfortable at first but as soon as you work with Premiere Pro a little longer you can create a frame for your webcam just as easily as in VEGAS Pro. It's simply dragging your webcam footage on top of your gameplay, scaling it down to the right size and adding a circular or square mask to it within the effect controls of the webcam footage, and you will have the exact same effect as with the cookie cutter. The cookie cutter is nothing specific, just a little masking tool. Make the switch. Trust me, it will benefit you in the long run.

The problem I have with Premiere is just the basic quality life improvements that could be made. In Vegas, all I need to do is move the cursor and I can press C to cut, and when I move that cursor it also visualization that movement to the preview. Its just so handy. Another thing I feel like is the waveform in premiere pro is less detailed, and when you are trying to make a video involving music a detailed waveform is a must. I'd probably move to premiere eventually but considering editing is really just a hobby for me right now, Vegas is all I need. Thank you for you really nice and honest feedback! I definitely agree with you within many points. Actually I think cutting in Premiere Pro is better because you first select the cut tool by pressing the "C" key on your keyboard and then select the moments with a left-click that you want to cut. This way you don't accidentally make a cut somewhere you didn't want to. To make the waveform more detailed simply move your mouse to the area where you can see all the audio tracks (there were you can also mute them) and hold down either "Alt" or "Option" and scroll down. This will make the waveform a lot more detailed. As you said at the end, for now this is just a hobby of your so stick with VEGAS Pro! And whenever you decide to make a switch feel free to do it! Have a great day man, stay healthy!

When I saw Premiere required you to search in effects to use "Crop", and requires you to use "Razer tool" to split the video instead of "S", I knew how it's complicated and hard. For me, as a one who want to create a quick videos and don't want to go professional, I use Vegas. Especially when the effects have a depicted preview, opposite of Premiere where you have to memorize the effects names, which isn't practical for newbies.

But I've been editing on Vegas for 10years and there is 2, 3major problems I have as a Vegas veteran. On premiere 1.the major one: when you move a music on the time-line you can't see the signal and can't synchronise in real time, you have to move and place it close then closer then good when Vegas could simply see at the same time. 2. If you place a sequence on an other one, it doesn't automatically put a fade like Vegas did but just override. 3. Dynamic link: How do you synchronise the song that you put on premiere with a great effect on a sequence on after effect If you have any suggestion. I'm up to listen it :) Bb

Hey there, first and foremost thank you so much for the long time support! This really means the world to me. I'm happy to see you made the switch as well, even if you find some things a little better at VEGAS Pro. I actually was like that in the beginning of my switch as well. Now let me get through all the points you have mentioned. What do you mean with "signal" do you mean the waveform of the audio? Because you can simply move your cursor to the audio track (where you can also mute your audio) and simply hold down alt (option for me on the Mac) and scroll down to make the size of the track bigger and the visibility of the waveform a lot better. Regarding the syncing process, I kept on doing the same thing with my markers in Premiere Pro as in VEGAS Pro to mark the seconds I want to sync later on to my video. Maybe I got something wrong but syncing for me is not to different from doing it in VEGAS Pro. Second point, I actually give you that! I liked to create this cross fading transition in VEGAS Pro too! With the instant delete I had to adjust slightly at the beginning. Regarding the third point, I don't know if I got you right but whenever I want something from Premiere Pro to go into After Effects I make sure everything is selected, even the music. Then I right-click and select "Replace with After Effect composition". After that After Effects opens up and everything is there. Even my audio. Hope this could help you! Again, thanks for your lovely comment!

@@SnaKiiBall Ah, thanks for making the video! Now I know what you are talking about. I think there is definitely some kinda adjustment you can make within the software settings to let the preview look just like in VEGAS Pro while moving a clip, I just didn't find it jet. But your point is totally valid and. For the third point I will try my best to answer this! Maybe you just cut the first 10 seconds of the song, so it does have the exact same length as your clip that you want to import into After Effects, and place a copy of the song clip into another music track below to safe it. You can mute the track if you want. This way you will be able to edit the audio part within After Effects without the whole song being imported in it and you will have a back-up in Premiere Pro to see the waveform if things somehow get messed up. I was using Vegas for several months and just subscribed to adobe cloud. I'll test adobe on Monday (today is Saturday) so I can't give any opinion on it just yet, but I already can't agree with one statement. Vegas is NOT enough for simple KZbin videos... Amount of crashes I had is unbelievable. Many times I had to waste 15-20 minutes on recreating work that I've done because Vegas just crashed and I forgot to save the project. My latest problem was with rendering the video in WQHD quality. Vegas is constantly crashing after couple of minutes of rendering and that made me to render the project in full HD which destroyed the quality of it, because original footage (screen cast) is recorded in WQHD. I won't even mention the amount of bugs and artifacts that I found in rendered videos although I couldn't find them in project or even in the preview. Once I rendered video several times because of those bugs and in each video, although I didn't change anything in the project, I could find artifacts in different random places. I hope Adobe don't have at least half of those problems.

Never had a crash with VEGAS, and Premiere costs too much. I’ve been using VEGAS for 5 years now so that would be 1000 dollars spent if I paid for CC every month and used that instead of VEGAS, In VEGAS I have the choice of either buying it once or paying for a subscription. I use Photoshop CS6 to edit my thumbnails but I don’t really need a workflow connection between them. Also I don’t do much VFX work, but if I had to I would use Vegas for most of it since After Effects in my own experience has been super buggy on my PC.

Of course people can't know any better if I didn't make an official statement somewhere. Hey there Okuins, personally I think Premiere Pro is better optimized than VEGAS Pro. So you might be able to run it and work a lot smoother. But obviously I can't ensure that. An alternative would be Filmora 9 Video Editor, this editor is very beginner friendly and you have many effect, transition and color grading presets to choose from. So definitely worth checking it out. It also only cost a one-time fee so you don't have to pay monthly if you are not a friend of subscriptions. Also, if you ever should be able to upgrade your computer try to get one with at least 16 GB of RAM and a good newish CPU. RAM & CPU are the most important for you, so you can edit and render efficiently. Then comes a proper graphics card so you can playback your preview flawlessly. Hope these tips were able to help you!

I switched to the premiere pro 7 days ago. After using vegas for 15 years. It’s harder but over time you understand more and more. And you realize they did some things better. It has its virtues and vegas but ... i have 8 year old hardware. And vegas pro causes me problems with 4k - preview freezes and you can't cut nicely. For 4k while in premiere pro everything gets better. in vegas pro settings whatever you do - It will be the same problem. and another thing that annoys me in vegas. When you choose the color and drag it with the mouse. somehow freezes for a second. Mask in vegas pro not to mention how annoying! While using vegas pro i noticed it is not using my hardware. While in the premiere pro my ram immediately jumped to 8gb. 7min 4k video will be 9GB to 13 GB. I have 16GB. The only thing i miss from vegas pro. you immediately see what effect it does. and then you pull it off.

Ive been using Vegas since 7.0 Came out Ive used many plug ins I have never had any issues at all. Crashes happen in both no matter what you are doing. Your whole idea is that adobe doesnt crash vegas does. Adobes interface is truly annoying its not fun vegas is much more fun. You could have changed settings in vegas and believe me it would have a made a huge difference. In fact what gets me upset the most is that everyone goes to ae I like a challenge not something thats given to me. In fact ive commented before about some plug ins i can give you to make it easier you never replied. Now its this. Sad day.

I remember using Sony Vegas 7.0 (how it's used be called back in the days) as well! It actually was my very first editing software. I never play around with Windows Movie Maker. Fun fact, I never had any crashing issues with 7.0 neither. This all started with the more recent versions. But excessive crashing issues for VEGAS Pro are definitely a thing. Otherwise my "VEGAS PRO crash fixes" video would not have received so many views and comment. But as I mentioned within this video I'm on your site, every software can crash, but it shouldn't be a regular thing. Why is Adobe's interface bad? Actually Premiere Pro's interface is not that much different from VEGAS Pro's. Only with some important features that make it better in regards to file and project management. You can switch between workspaces like "Color" for color grading, "Graphics" for all your text animations, creating nesting sequences that work better in Premiere Pro than in VEGAS Pro. But that's just my opinion. And I can create bins for all my digital assets and even set up a presets, so all the created bins I made within one project will be there in future projects as well. A switch is always uncomfortable but as soon as you work with the software for a little longer you will see just how much more use you can get from Premiere Pro. Last but not least I would like to state the "plugin" discussion. Plugins are great but unfortunately as I said most of the really good ones for VEGAS Pro like Sapphire are extremely over-priced. That's why most of the people end up cracking them. Nevertheless I don't want to argue with you! I wish you the very best for the future with VEGAS Pro. At the end it's always comes down to what you feel most comfortable with. Stay safe and stay healthy!
