I just bought a Sno Tek 24 and it sounds like it's at max rpm and Wil backfire like a gun shot. Any idea what I should check? I bought it used I was told it was bought new last winter.

clean the carb and the jets really good and put in a new spark plug check the manual for the proper plug and make sure the oil level is also good to go

What would cause your engine to stall when you increase from idle to full throttle? I'm trying to get my 7 hp Ariens ST724 tuned up before the snow flies eh... but I have to slowly give it throttle... Also when I engage the auger the thing bogs down and stalls.
@KevinMillard684 жыл бұрын
dirty carb would do that

@@KevinMillard68 Thanks for responding eh... I took the bowl off of it yesterday and it looked clean. Should I take the carb off and soak it in solvent then use an air compressor to blast the airways?
@KevinMillard684 жыл бұрын
@@piratepete-thetruthisforevery1 the brass screw that you took off to remove the bowl has a tiny little jet in it as well as a larger one clean those before you take the carb off the machine they are famous for clogging on that screw and will affect the motor alot..

@@KevinMillard68 ah ok. I took out the idle mixture screw looking for tiny holes to clean but it was just a pointy needle screw. I'll take out the one you mentioned tomorrow and make sure the holes are clean. Thanks again for your help...

@@piratepete-thetruthisforevery1 its a really tiny hole youll need a twist tie strip the plasitc off it then the wire will show and be the right size to clean the jets in the screw/bolt that old the bowl on , the screw and spring that screw intot the center in turn it in all the way with a screw driver till it stops on its own hten back it out 1 and 1/2 turns to start with , get it running then get he motor to fukl throttel slowly till maxed out then turn the screw out or in tillthe motor runs a smooth as you can get it,, PS use fresh gas not last years gas ,, there is an ensym in regual and mediumm grade gas thats screws it up after sitting for about 6 month so use hi test gas to avoid this or just get some fresh gas either way..

don't many engine makers prohibit high octane fuel? bad for exhaust valve and muffler?
@KevinMillard686 жыл бұрын
no idea usually use lower stuff but the Hi grade is the best it will not guitar your blower in fact it is better for the motor and the carb etc. etc. low grade will cause repair bills more often and plugs more often and so on , you ever heard of marketing its what they can tell you you will agree with them and they will sell more parts more often but they are not going tell you that .. otherwise they would would make less money if they told yoou the truth on everything..
@ericwork2966 жыл бұрын
i have seen it printed in owner's manuals. "Do Not use 93 fuels". I have also seen a friends muffler orange hot from premium.

my snowblower is a 10 HP but its not running right. the engine speed goes up and down all the time when there is more snow it runs good but as soon as im not pushing it .it starts to not run good then it also loses a lot of power it run real slow then stops.
@KevinMillard686 жыл бұрын
start with cleaning the carb and all the jets and sounds like you have a pin screw adjustable jet make sure its not only clean and all its little jet areas but make sure the screw is adjusted properly or its going to run crapy ,, you could also need a new plug and FRESH Gas, sometimes the governor spring wares out as well and it could also be adjusted out of wack as well , its not in front of me so i cant give you 100% the flaper for the governer could have dirt build up as well
@allie6756 жыл бұрын
i cleaned the crab the inside of the bowel was clean and changed the plug it was real dirty it was really cold outside this weekend but i want to change the oil on it as well and i put new gas in it i think when i put the bowel back together the gas kit mint not be in right leaks gas from the bowel
@KevinMillard686 жыл бұрын
id say you might want to check that the seal is in proper for the bowl also the screw that holds in it which is also part of some of the jets also should have a gasket as well if its not there it will leak there as well .

Thanks for the video, I have the Craftsman version of this snowblower and it was helpful. I can't see clearly in the video, but do you have the original plastic rims on yours (I know this is a few years old)? My rim exploded, and while trying to find replacements I discovered there was a safety recall for that reason when inflated "well above" 20psi. I was lucky enough to only have a some bruising and cuts on my hand (and a good amount pain). It could have been much worse. If you call 888.848.6038 with your model and serial number they will send you steel replacements with tires. Hope this info is helpful for you or anyone else with the original plastic rims.
@KevinMillard686 жыл бұрын
your welcome and mine are steel rims last owner must have upgraded them
@robertknight46723 жыл бұрын
I bought the yard machines version used. One of the plastic rims must have shattered on the previous owner. It had some generic hardware store wheel on it. I actually bought the steel wheels before knowing they were recalled. I did eventually call MTD and get the free set just so I have some spares.

My snow blower revving when I start it is that bad for the engine
