How to Airbrush an Apple!!! (Español-English)

Hola a todos! Aquí os muestro lo que hice ayer. En total, pintando, me llevó cerca de dos horas. El procedimiento a seguir ideal es seguir las muestras de color que muestro en el video, pero tuve un pequeño problema... La imagen impresa perdía gamas de verdes y viveza respecto a la imagen en la pantalla (en realidad esto siempre pasa...) y al final pasé un poco de las muestras de color y me ceñí a lo que veía en la pantalla. Pero hubo otro problema... con mis pinturas wicked no podía conseguir un verde base con suficiente fuerza y tuve que ajustar sobre la imagen añadiendo prácticamente amarillo sobre el verde azulado que resultó al principio. Esto es porque el amarillo del set de primarios de wicked tiene menos fuerza que un martillo de juguete. Al final lo solucioné haciendo los verdes con un amarillo esmalte al algua de Bruguer (del de pintar puertas y muebles ;) ). Si los colores que usamos no son todo lo puros que deberían no conseguiremos ciertas mezclas por mucho que nos esforcemos. En un futuro próximo haré un video explicativo sobre esto. Otro pequeño problema que tuve fue que mi film transparente adhesivo había perdido la palabra "adhesivo" y me emborronó un poquito el rabo de la manzana, aunque de todos modos la verdad es que en esa parte no me esforcé demasiado porque ya estaba un poco cansado y con ganas de terminarlo.

La verdad que lo que más hay que tener para esto es paciencia... sobre todo cuando las cosas no te salen como esperas entran tentaciones de tirar la toalla, pero hay que seguir intentando mejorar dia a dia. Thanks a lot man. I'm in all senses a learner yet as I feel I still need lots of practice to get more confident with what I'm doing. This technique requires tons of practice and most important... lots of patience not to get dissapointed and learn from your mistakes. Before getting into serious work, practice with no pressure and try to enjoy. Having your own place and time to paint would be great too... I wish I had either of them... Hope to hear from you soon!

Yea ive never seen anyone use an airbrush the way u do but wht ever ur comfortable with is all tht matters I am curious why you started holding your airbrush that way but like that other guy said it seems to work really well and I love the realism of your Apple turned out beautifully.

Hi xcOdman. The airbrush I'm using here is an iwata eclipse hp-cs. It's a great airbrush and it won't break the bank so if you get one of these, I'm sure you'll learn a lot and will enjoy it. As you already have a general purpose one, this airbrush will suit you to pull out decent detail and it's quite permissive with different kinds of paints and very easy to use. I think it's around 130€. I'm sure you'll find it in ebay or any online airbrush supplies store. If I could buy just one I'd buy it.

I started holding it like that just because when airbrushing for a long time my index finger hurt so bad that I switched the position to be able of continuing painting at least to do general covering and non-detailed stuff, but unconsciously I kept using that grip more and more until it became natural and discovered that it works perfectly for detailing as movement is more limited and that's just what I need to keep good control of the triger. Anyways I keep sweeping btwn the usual grip and this

Here I used water based paints. For general coloring I used "all purpose" water based enamel (the one that's used to paint furniture) and for some detailing I used wicked colors (also water based). This study was done on paper so water based was the right choice. Thanks for the kind words.

For this you don't really need a nice airbrush as it's all masking work. It's just a matter of knowing how to mix your colors, a bit of technique, logic, patience and practice. It's the kind of illustration that isn't hard making but looks really good. Just try it. It isn't that hard.

It's quite comfy when you have to paint for a long time, large areas or in case you have big hands.

eklipse55 I have big hands too, but I'm thinking the thumb can push sideways as well as back to put friction against the side to make it easier to control an overactive button like I have on this antique VRS-90. this might help with. Thanks again.

Papel gvarro. No recuerdo el gramaje. La lámina es film transparente mascara adhesiva de poca adherencia para aerografía.
