I got a new aftermarket exhaust manifold along with my s366 rebuilt and was thinking about gasket matching the manifold and turbine inlet. I heard that there is a bit of spool up/ performance to be gained by this. It would make a great video to test like the turbo blanket test vid. I would be nice to know if it's worth the extra time, money and effort.

Its ironic you guys uploaded this video all considering I just got my brand new Borg Warner S300sx turbo for my 5.9L 12 valve Cummins today and its leaking oil out of the compressor side! Turbo is tilted backwards no more than 10 degrees, oil level in pan is below the drain, NO engine blow-by! Also I have a 5/8" drain along with a 90 degree pipe fitting 6" below where the drain bolts up and the oil feed is perfectly straight up and down no side to side tilt at all

@@pddofficial I E-mailed you pictures of my setup
@jessiej39915 жыл бұрын
@@pddofficial Yes the hose attached to the 90 elbow does go " downhill " from there! The only thing I can think of it that it has too much oil pressure! Feeding the turbo is a 3/8" braided hose from the top of the oil filter which is reduced down to a 1/4" braided rubber hose along with a 1/4" NPT brass barb fitting on the turbo! I have to do this because the original steel braided hose will not reach the S300sx which is the bottom (2nd ) turbo! I have a compound setup

No blow by? How does it leak oil without running?
@jessiej39915 жыл бұрын
@@jaydunbar7538 I never said it leaks without running! It only leaked while running and the problem ended up being because I was using a 1/2" I.D hose on my drain instead of a minimum of 5/8" or bigger. Originally I had a 5/8" steel pipe with a 1/2" brass barb screwed into it and a 1/2" hose connected to the drain pan
@jessiej39915 жыл бұрын
@@jaydunbar7538 I fixed the problem by running 5/8" everything! 5/8" steel pipe with a 5/8" brass barb screwed into it and the oil pan and a 5/8" braided heater hose connecting the two brass barbs

This is fine and dandy if you're working with a new turbo. If you're working with a used turbo they can be difficult so what you want to do is soak it down with PB Blaster or WD40, climb up on top of the roof of your house and throw the turbo onto the Street below. You might need to do this 3 or 4 times then order a new turbo from PDD. Problem solved!

Sooo... you are saying Borg Warner was correct to deny my warranty after I tried clocking it by sticking my 3/4" breaker bar handle into the outlet. Good to know there are bolts holding that.

Just had a thought for another video. The thought process or science behind compounds or twins. Not sure if anybody runs traditional "twins" on diesels. But like why do you want your larger turbo feeding the smaller turbo. That always seemed counterintuitive to me. Just a thought 😁
@ShainAndrews5 жыл бұрын
That would be a compound... that everybody calls twins.

I was thinking “clocking “ had more to do with turbine RPM than simple fitment orientation ... I stand corrected

Depends on how your measuring? Could be: its the angle of the dangle, Heat of the meat or mass of ass calcualtions. j/s also if you cant make her pucker with a turbo well turn in your man card, go get some skinny jeans
