Well done ! Good video. Trouble with boating is that everyone's an expert ! I spent years with my sons fishing from a Sea-Hog in the Menai Straits etc but dealing with an inflatable is better in some ways (Less resistance to the tide) and worse in others (Lower to the water, no really secure attachment points and much more vulnerable to careless damage). Long as everyone comes home safe-that's a win in my view.

Great instructional video - I had no idea about anchoring before I watched this. Very helpful for newbie inflatable boaters. An anchor makes a lot of sense! Subscribed!

The rule of thumb that you mentioned 3*depth is for chain only. it is 5*depth for rope+chain and 10*depth for rope only. and the rope material ideally must be sinking, not floating. a floating anchor line will get tangled in your underwater running gear. That's why nylon is the preferred anchor line. It sinks. It also stretches and reduces the shock from waves and wakes.

The most important-how do you connect the anchor to the boat? Or the rope is just laying in the bucket?

Good video for the beginner, thanks. Just one point, from experience I believe it's advisable to start the engine before weighing anchor. If you have problems starting up you will have to go through the whole process again (or run onto the rocks!)

Thanks mate, this is super helpful. Say you were getting out of the boat for diving/spearfishing and leaving it unattended within a swimmable distance in 30 - 50 ft of water. Would you change the setup in any way? I have a 3.5m sib and have opted for a 3.5KG bruce and 6m chain to beef your setup up a bit. Curious to know how/if you'd change your setup for this use case?
@sibfishingadventuresuk15588 ай бұрын
I use 2kg a 5m of chain for everything .. if think 3.5kg be fine in the shallows but I would wanna try pulling that out of the mud or sand at any depth . Thanks for the feed back

Great video thanks, I have a similar length inflatable and visiting Lake Windermere in the lake district which is obviously non tidal but it can get very windy across the lake. I don't want to drift when I stop so how would I anchor please?
@sibfishingadventuresuk15582 жыл бұрын
You can anchor the same way but has its not tidel you can just tie off on the tope rope band if you hand one or front handle .. you will still need a min 1.5kg grap and 2x the depth min

Probably a silly question, but what happens if the anchor gets caught on a rock/reef and you cant pull it up as shown in the video?
@sibfishingadventuresuk1558 Жыл бұрын
Good question .. it's only happened to me once.. 99% of the time it's the chain that snags up and not the anchor you do have to cut loose and cut your losses .. but the best way to avoid that is make sure you don't drag and have enough rope out to save dragging into a snag

Hi. Thanks for this. I need 2get a new anchor cos the 0.7kg grapple hook that came with the boat honwave t38 didn't work 4me yest. Would u recommend the 2kg Bruce? Also, what drinks holder ru using I could do with a couple? Many thanks... jj

Do you find it safe anchoring this boat in very strong tides or does the bow start to dip into the water? Here in Poole Harbour the tides are so strong the mooring buoys get submerged! 😂

Really depends if you want a light weight or can manage something a little heavier.. 3.8 will be at the peak of a one man launching unless on a trailer
