Jake your videos are amazing, I was a professional Cyclist for 20 year have to stop because health problems and archery is a new big passion for me, the tuning of the equipment is amazing and deferent from bicycles that you can find a lot info with Archery is hard to find details like you are doing, amazing job. Im starting with a barebow set-up and wanna grop to a Olympic , but my question is about aiming the vision on a barebow, I understand is hard to explain I have being working on my form with some really good coachs but my mind keeps want to aim the arrow to the center and my arrows always move left, that is normal? We did all the fine tune with arrows and plungers I can hit the target pretty well and group very well is just I always have to aim a bit letf, Im a letf hand shooter, can maybe you do a video about that. Thank you so much.

Something I'll take seriously: bone to bone in the anchor + moving up without the elbow. This is gold. Thanks Jake, hope to see you soon around Barcelona!

Learning compound but much of this is still useful. The scapula demonstration was very clear, as was the explanation of how bone-to-bone tension can reduce shake while holding full draw. Have a short-distance indoor target to learn on, and very happy that yesterday I was able to shoot 37/40 for the first time. This should help even more.

Good Grief this is GOLD information. One month later from my first watching and I'm still gleaming information as I play it again. Even in the last few minutes of this video I caught more. Your sharing of trial and errors is saving lots and lots of struggle time for folks. It's important for me to remember that the steps branch out and share video space with each other. The process can gel for me at any part of a video so I have to keep scanning it until the light bulb goes on.

This video helped me realize why I suddenly had problems with anchoring. As I grew more aware of my draw side scapula I subconsciously realized that anchoring with the wrong movement had me lose BT. To try to preserve that BT I started to have a problem anchoring. Thank you so much for this clear explanation

Tried this anchoring style today and I gotta say, it feels FAR more consistent as before I had a very light touch on my anchor position. Also the crushing the SCM muscle part really helped me get a better feel of the anchor at the neck region.

@@JakeKaminskiArchery Jake for a bit of clarification. You said that the pressure should be up towards the jaw and in towards the neck but how do you achieve the inward pressure? Do you lead the inward motion more with Lan 2 motion or do you achieve the inward motion using your hand when you're moving up towards the anchor position. Also in the previous video you mentioned bicep tension, what exactly do you mean by this?
@stevenbalderstone7093 жыл бұрын
As a newbie, most of it was new. Thanks for clarifying the difference between an Olympic and Bare-bow anchor. I was naturally using the bare-bow style, knowing that it was wrong, but it felt natural. No-doubt it was take a while for this new anchor to feel natural.

1 - With you, I discovered The Kee Sik Lee book, Inside the Archer, you talk about in a previous vid. This book is just a gold mine. Your channel is another gold mine. What I learn with you in this video : 2 - your technic, with left index, to feel right scapular (1:54), and no elbow moving for a correct movement. 3 - local contact with the articulation of the index knuckle - and not with all the index on jaw + thumb on the airpipe, as I thought at first

Hi Jake I repeat watch or re-repeat watch all your videos. This one was very useful for me. I used to think that you have to draw directly into anchor in one go. That used to result in inconsistent anchor and variable draw length. Then I started to move the anchor but since my coaches had drilled into me that you never move your forearm so I adjusted it with elbow movement. I used to think that a high elbow is good for back tension but in reality I was losing it and release suffered as a result. Now I know that you don’t have to come into anchor in one move, you possibly can’t even if you want to., and you can have that slight room for adjustment while doing it with forearm. I will practice this way. Thank you very much!

How much pressure bone to bone: super useful. I have a job touching thumb tip to pinkie tip, it causes too much tension and makes the anchor unstable. hi Jake. in the Video Hook&grip you lift your elbow for the feeling in the finger to better back tension. now you say to hold elbow straight. Of course draw shoulder has to be down,but is there a difference to the elbow? btw, my anchor is weak because of the choking problem you told. ;(
@Redsnake78194 жыл бұрын
That was a very detailed explanation of anchor point. I always wondered about the side of chin AP. One question though. I keep my anchor point middle of my nose and chin bone. It's kinda my wall and I find it very consistent. Do you see any drawbacks with that?
@JakeKaminskiArchery4 жыл бұрын
Yes, neurologically speaking you are really going to limit your strength, balance and reaction times from that head tilt. The brain tends to get confused if its not in a normal state, tilting your head is similar to the affects of only using one eye to shoot. Look at top level archers, everyone has a side anchor, only a little bit and not enough to have drag on their chin when the string is released.
@Redsnake78194 жыл бұрын

Hi Jake, i would like to ask about the thumb/jaw rest on a finger tab. when anchoring the pressure from the bottom of index finger to the jaw is very impprtant right, so do we need to attach the thumb/jaw rest that we get from the fingertab? i hope u understan what i mean of "thumb/jaw rest" i dont know the real name of that thing. thank you!
@JakeKaminskiArchery4 жыл бұрын
It can be used to anchor with but bone to bone is better, you can use that thing (called the shelf) as an extra reference under the jaw on the soft part of the neck/jaw.
@muhaiminmuchti33154 жыл бұрын
when i removed the shelf, i couldnt get the proper anchor (the bottom of the index finger couldnt touch the jaw because of the iron plat of the fingertab itself) i had this issue since 2014 and i still hadnt got the idea. i hope u will discuss it on your later videos or just reply it again. In last form video you mentioned that i should pull back to the wall like compounds do. Does it mean that i should pull back as far as i can or just until it hits my chin and nose? Because i tried that the other day and i managed to get about 1-2" longer draw than what ive usually had. I havent gone back to that since that day because i felt that i should work on other things first. I asked few weeks ago what should i work on and you told me to focus on pushing and pulling so i've worked on that. I've noticed that my string alignment and head position is wrong. Ive usually aligned my string on outer edge of the riser but now i've noticed it's far off to right hovering on air without any reference points. Also i've noticed that sometimes i cant see the target very well so i did some testing and figured out that i was looking at the target from corner of my eye. I use glasses so i think it was because of reflection or the angle my eye is looking through the lens or something that makes it blurry. So with all that i decided to try move my head so im looking at the target straight but then when i pulled back my bow it felt like i didnt have room to pull. The string didnt touch my chest or anything like that but it felt harder to pull through the clicker. So should i pull as far as i can before anchoring and when are you going to talk about head position, string alignment and aiming because i think that's the biggest issue for me at this moment. Also what would you recommend to work on next? So far it's been push and pulling while also working on open stance and twisting torso movement to get bone alignment. What new did i learn from this video? That i should rotate my arm and not push up my arm and elbow when anchoring.
@Branthroc4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jake. I hadn't heard of pressing your anchor so tightly to your jaw and will try it when I next go to the range. I do have a qestion for you though. I can pull back futher than my clicker is currently set to, however everytime I've tried moving towards me more I end up getting contact on chin/jawline. Do you have any ideas I could try? Ta
@JakeKaminskiArchery4 жыл бұрын
Sounds to me like your mistaken hitting the wall with pull back further. You do not want a far side anchor due to that chin drag. Only go to the corner of your chin and not the side of it.

hello jake, i want ask you a question: is the thumb behind the neck (brady ellison) a position that everyone can take? for example, I with the thumb behind the neck have a better alignment and a flatter and relaxed wrist, but I find it difficult to reach the position during the loading perhaps because the neck muscle is too far for my physical conformation, the fingers of my hand draw it's not deep but more rake(more open), and the string is very lateral to the face. for example, why don't you put your thumb behind? thank you. sorry for my english, but I'm italian. I get the impression (and I might be wrong) that a lot of people I watch on youtube (i.e. the good ones) make a good anchor by lifting their elbow higher than their draw hand, so they keep their wrist straight but they've lost the through-line from bow hand to string elbow. So have I misunderstood or is it that a solid anchor is worth that sacrifice?
@JakeKaminskiArchery4 жыл бұрын
Ollie, have you seen the video I did on hook and grip? kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIuYdKh4pdeEa7M I specifically talk about this and show how you can have a proper anchor, even with a steeper jaw angle. Simply just hooking upwards and having a bent wrist solves that issue without sacrificing the anchor with loss of back tension.
