Is the concealer supposed to be lighter than the foundation? I want to buy makeup and start practicing but i don't know the difference between foundation and concealer, help! :c

The explanation I've heard is foundation should match your skin and it's used to sort of even your skin out and give it a flawless look. Concealer is for more problematic spots or can be used to highlight certain areas a bit. One youtuber I watched actually said that she does her concealer first so that the lighter color pops through more. I'm not sure if the order matters as long as you moisturize and prime properly.

The last one that you wrote is exactly the way to do it. Some people start off by just doing the concealer first to kind of get rid of any dark shadows or to smooth out the under-eye area let it sit for a moment use your beauty blender that's damp ( by water); use your translucent powder like a Laura Mercier to wipe away the excess powder, then apply your foundation underneath meaning below that area that you just concealed and around the edges of the face and under your chin. The way she suggested putting on the foundation was so beautiful and will allow for your skin to peek through and to appear airbrushed then you can use a setting spray a misty setting spray that will make the whole thing stay right there. Then you could go in for eyeshadow or at least eyeliner or mascara to illuminate the eyes and your lipstick a little light blush and or contour if you want to have those snatched cheekbones. Spray again with setting mist and you're good.

Wow just bought make up for the first time in 32 years and was told to apply foundation first when i was always told to do exacly what you said . Thank you for confirming what i knew. Hydrate then Cover first bland and apply foundation. ❤i am detranstion and left with stubble from years of growing faical hair. Untill i have money to remove the hair concealer will be my best friend to hide this mess. 😊

She used the same kind, just with a smaller amount and pressed it into the skin with the fingers, then a sponge and made sure she didn't go all the way up to the under eyes. ☺️ Hope this helped ❤

I REALLY needed this tutorial! I get so upset when I can see dey foundation and concealer in fine lines under my eyes. It makes them stand out more but I didn't know how to avoid it. Thank you! I think the trick to not getting concealer in your lashes is to just go slow and use smaller tools to be more precise. Looking up when doing your under eyes helps. Try using a small concealer brush or sponge, they make baby beauty blenders. If you're wanting more full coverage use a more dense brush using a tapping motion and fluffier brush using a small buffing motion for lighter coverage. You could even use an eyeshadow brush or just your fingers as well. ❤
