He said that first statement applies more to beginner to intermediate lifters. Essentially because they don’t have as much to lose. Not so much for advanced lifters like himself.

@@chjeltness I don't think his interest is purely financial. That might be an extrinsic motivator but the primary issue is his sense of identity. He is a body builder with x years of experience. If he isn't showing the kinds of results that would be expected for someone of his life experience, it would undermine his sense of self, self-worth, and identity which could precipitate a life altering spiral through depression driven behavioral changes.

OVERCOME72 I honestly hope not. But even if we flatten the curve it will take time for the curve to actually extinguish itself. And beyond that, it will take awhile for things to return to normal. NOTE: Just a reminder this video was filmed over a month ago. It was meant to be a follow up to my video explaining at-home bodyweight workouts in detail: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y361f52Kp5urqKc My purpose in making this video was to show you guys what I’m personally doing with my training. I’m definitely not saying you all need to do the same! I made this decision the same day my local gym closed, so I was able to grab some gear before everything closed or sold out. If you take the two videos together, you’ll hear me repeating constantly that you don’t need much (if any) equipment to maintain your gains. I thought the message was clear: We’re all gonna be ok if we do our best. Hope you guys are hunkering down ok and if you are coming looking for detailed at-home workouts, I would start with this video first: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y361f52Kp5urqKc Cheers!

I don't usually comment on youtube, but I guess my situation is kinda special, cause I'm Spanish and right now we're going through some THICC infection curves. I've been training for almost 6-7 years (though at times I've had to take some time off the weights due to uni/injury) and now I have to make do with only a couple of dumbbells which only go up to 10kg, two bands, and a pull up bar. It all came so quickly that I (and most of my lifting friends) had no time to get any more basic gym equipment, let alone buy the expensive stuff. What I'm here to say is that most of you are gonna have to get creative with your home workouts. At the rate at which this is going, it looks like you'll have to do without a gym for AT LEAST a month (if you have a sturdy healthcare system and barely competent politicians), so you'll probably lose some gains. Another thing is that this is not about your gains. That should literally be the least of your concerns. You should focus on staying home to make this go away as soon as possible and to make life easier for the people that are going to have to do way more than staying home. I know I'm going to lose some mass, but I also know that there are heroes out there working inhumane shifts to take care of the rest of us. Stay safe, stay inside. Edit: Lmao I really did say a month, keeping it for memories sake

I’ve actually had a decent amount of “at home” equipment (i.e. bands, sand bags, chains etc) prior to this situation so I’ve been using that. I’ve been doing a good amount of experimentation recently so it’s been fun. For the more advanced lifters I recommend getting a 100-200 lbs (not sure of the conversion lol) sandbag. I’ve been deadlifting with that and it’s been a killer. When I want to make it heavier I add some resistance bands. It’s not a barbell but it’s pretty good!

As someone who tends to completely wreck his body at least once a year you can believe me: Muscle memory will take care of your lost gains pretty quickly. You regain muscle about three times a fast as you normally gain them, so even if you can't go to the gym for a couple months, it will probably take you about 4-6 weeks to regain everything you've lost. An excellent honest review on how to deal with this! It’s a nightmare here in London with so little equipment left to buy - and whatever is left (which is crap) it is over priced and unaffordable! I agree the best thing is to get a basic barbel Dumbell set up at home if you can?! I fear this is going to be months! But I think life and training will really change after this! NO ONE will ever want to rely solely on gyms again! I think people will adapt to more home training styles and more simpler approaches with less reliance on gyms! Please tell us how you will do hamstrings and that seems a nightmare to do at home for people who are advanced!

I live in Japan. And Japan has done nothing but lipservice as a reaction. SK does not have it under control, but will soon, thanks to proper testing, not house arrest. Do you really think ppl are not visiting friends in SK? I know for a fact that bars and restaurants are still open, as I have tons of friends there as well. What happened in Italy is tragic, and we hope it doesn't happen where we live. The only way to stop this would have been our governments closing borders to China two and a half months ago.

2 minutes into this video and you literally made me so happy. Recently diagnosed with cubital tunnel syndrome and basically the best thing to do for recovery is to either completely rest my upper body or go SUPER light. I’ve been bumming about this for a while. Decided that I’m going to go light as the priority is of course recovery….but I’m so relieved that the muscle loss over what could be months won’t be significant. My muscle gains are minimal but have taken SO long…I have to modify like crazy, but I hope to not lose all my progress over however many months this thing takes to recover. Still bummed that the gains won’t continue…but at least I won’t be back at square 1.

If there was some magical way that people could do highly advanced training with no equipment and no weights, don’t you think people would already be doing that? If it’s not feasible for you to train at an advanced level right now then so be it, there’s way worse things in the world and doing some no-equipment workouts at home will probably help you maintain your health pretty well. But don’t complain because someone is not able to offer a magical solution to train at the same intensity of the gym with zero equipment.

one idea I had, is to buy a (strongman) sandbag. - it is cheap - it is easy to ship - it doesn't take any space if empty - the handling at home is much better - it is quite compared to barbells and plates One con is that it's of course not the same movement as squats or deadlifts. But you still can keep more strength than with lightweight training.
