I love this George! I personally really like the traditional aquariums with wood stands and matching canopies. The aquascaping part of the hobby is saturated with rimless tanks, and I understand the aesthetic, but a little variety is great!

Honestly, the tank (at 14:00) looks way more beautiful and stylish without the hood !!

Love the tank, it’s nice to see a traditional hooded aquarium - lots of homes with these covered type tanks out there, very relatable and attainable! Beautiful layout... can’t wait to see it grow in! I’d stock it with a big school of cardinal tetras, the have the red that your friend likes and would balance the tank nicely. I’d probably also put some select koi angelfish or maybe some Discus in there, they would keep the cardinal school tight. Thank you for the video!

I love Hygrophilia and have Polysperma and Siamensis in my tank. It's super easy and fast growing so it allows for really cheap and effective background planting. I cut them all in half before planting because it just grows so fast so I can have really dense planting

Love this large triangle scape! Classic George Farmer scape, always getting better! AR mini is currently my favourite aquascaping plant. Trim and replant for a lush red/purple carpet. Cant wait to see this scape grown in, it will look absolutely amazing! I would stock it with a massive school or rummynose tetras. They are beautiful schooling fish that will stand out in that tank and they have a touch a red which your clients like.

Finally a sump tank! I know you were puzzled about what route to go for injecting the CO2 and Tom Barr’s Venturi reactor is an awesome tool! I made one myself years ago and it worked famously, complete dissolution. I particularly didn’t care for the micro bubbles spewing out of the output so the reactor worked well in that aspect. Maybe try it out sometime!

George, it would have been fun to hear Steven speak. We had a camera system put in at church and one of the workers was from northern Ireland. I was guessing he was Scotch but he pointed to my Notre Dame shirt. Anyway, I hear Yanks flying private planes across the UK have a very tough time understanding the dialects. Very nice scape, George. I was very interested in the oak cabinet which looks exceptional. Very sturdy looking. I will be making the cabinet for my 110 Custom Aquarium and it will be oak with similar doors as this one. Cheerio.

Please do an update on this. This really helped me in my planning process for my 150 gal. I have all my hardscape and equipment just waiting to finish my floors before I set it up. Have you used fluval stratum and if so what are your thoughts? Thanks George. Beutifull scape as always.
@bluemanpaul5 жыл бұрын
Fluval stratum has a good reputation although I've never used it myself as my local store stocks JBL branded stuff. George is absolutely spot on when he stresses the importance of a hardscape. Make sure you have a really high impact hardscape and then the plants will just grow in and compliment the scape you are creating

Nice tank setup. Curious how the sump and CO2 work
@nicklaspersson46874 жыл бұрын
Me too I would think the CO2 will escape more quickly as it trickles thru the sump and the CO2 bottle will run out faster than not using a sump. But if economy is not an issue i guess its a solvable problem. Just throw some more money into the tank. :-D.

I just added some cardinal tetras and celestial pearl danios to my tank and they look great! And some Corydora catfish and shrimps! My only ‘regret’ is this awesome snail I put in there, who’s doing a great job at cleaning, but at night digs up my plants when it buries itself a bit 😒

That looks sweet mate! A lovely home it would appear too. Maybe a few Red Robin gourami would look nice in there! Do you have any updates on the other large scale you did at a mates house, the one built in the wall you had to climb in?
@paulwestcott81715 жыл бұрын
Very nice, at first it looked like there wasn't enough hardscape but when done its perfect. I notice a lot of the other aquascapers use ada powersand and other elements added to the soil, however you dont seem too, is there a real benefit of adding them/are they really essential or is it worth saving the money for other parts of the build? As for fish i saw some diamond headed tetra that were a little different but i would just put small shoaling fish in it to really to show the size of the tank and scape.

Awesome video George, I have a question, seeing the arrangement of plants especially the carpet ones, I found you mix at least 3 species in the same area, why you do that? is not hard to maintain later for example for trimming...in the past was normal to have one area for one and other area for other carpet plant, how you decide which types of carpet plants could be mixed in the same area?

is it utterly crucial to not put the tank in view of a window? or is it ok as long as its not directly in front of the window, my flat doesnt really have anywhere not in view of a window bar the hallway, but it would seem a waste to put it in the hallway as id like to watch and enjoy it

"DISCUS and PLANTED AQUASCAPES never go along with each other". Heard this today in the morning. Discus need a warm environment and plants prefer a not too warm environment. But I have seen many people have discus in their planted tanks. Can you guys do a full review on this topic? Please! (FYI; I posted the same message on AquaGreen)

Will the sump style overflow system blow off alot of the CO2 due to the water falling/tumbling?
@xavierayayaell5465 жыл бұрын
The CO2 is dispensed at the return end of the sump so it doesn't go through all the filtration.

I have a two month old scape an I don’t know if everyone who lives in the us. Has the same problem or where I live I don’t think it is. I have a hard time finding anything to set up a scape. There’s not one store that carries good soil,hard scape, or plants really. Every pice of hard scape I had to get for my scape I only could see just what it might look like. I have no clue till it gets to me. It’s also across the country 2 thousand miles away. All plants I get are the same way. I can’t just go to my store and get some plants. It’s really pushing me out of the hobby an I love it it’s really been what I needed this year. I need a new light but it’s once again harder to get than it should be for my 36in tank. If anyone has any ideas or has the same issues.
