Hello.that was fantastic and very well explained.have had trouble oil sumping.did rebuild oil pump but still lost all oil.did put another pump on after i rebuilt it but still oil tank will empty.am going to buy new ballbearings and grind seats as you demonstrated.hopefully will solve problem....have had bike since 1968 many rebuilds and has dry sumped if left to long without running.but this sumping at moment crazy.not sure if there is any other thing that could cause my problem.thank you for listening and brilliant video you made.regards jimmy.

Well there ya go, i buy a fair bit of old tools n stuff at auctions and i remember seeing one or two of these screwdriver types with whats like a ball bearing on the end, and now i know.

After rebuilding the oil pump and filling the oil tank, how do i make sure the oil pump (as well as the whole circuit) works well before starting the bike for the first time? Should i kick it over until i can see the oil returning to the tank?

Roight. currently working on me mates oil pump. I lapped where the ball bearings, check balls go. The regulator seat where the ball sits has a groove in it, where that,, restrictor (? shown clearly at 3:40) is swaged in. as if they broached the groove too deep. This groove makes that check ball unable to seal. unless I lap it a lot. if I shine a small torch through the hole with that restrictor, and look down that hole, it is very visible. questions: are they all like that, is it ok, should I lap it away? Cheers in advance.
