I have watched this video a couple times as I am working through my Crisis and Trauma course for school. This counselor is so wonderful. Her cadence and tone of voice is so soothing. And her body language is spot on, as well! She is so good at her job.

Thank you ma'am for demonstrating the body language, vocal tone and dialogue needed to deal with this delicate issue so clearly

The problem with these assessments is that you know exactly what they ask and the order, how they react, and what they do. So I wonder why someone who doesn’t see a future should come and confess to the same questions and advice and etc.

In the US, the hospital is nothing more than a holding cell and you will almost certainly feel worse there. You will get almost nothing to occupy your thoughts and you’ll be sitting around for hours with only your thoughts.

boy, I found it moving when the counselor said well I would miss you. That's all we want to hear really, those words. Tony

Right after he told the therapist that he lost his job, he then said he was tired. She responded with, “So you lost your energy.” No! He lost his job! Of course it’s bad news for anyone to loose their job, but it’s psychologically devastating for a man. We are wired to be providers, and losing the means to provide makes men feel like failures; more for some than others.

It's fine to say Thank you. But read the Growth Mindset research, you're wanting to, as much as possible, show the child how they are making decisions each step of the way, which helps build an internal locus of control where they eventually don't need to approval of others (as much).

I felt great until I watched this this lol. This conversation would not change anything for me if i was in that situation. It may even make it worse. Like, you gave this man ZERO hope. Why wouldnt you do that? Or at least try? The best thing you said was when you told him that you care about him

The counselor seems rushed and not so comfortable (a few times) talking to the patient. He came to the place where he could not find a solution for the root cause of his depression, which was losing a job.

@@prawnpizza Yes, you do, if it is terrible, right? I mean, life is not free of suffering. If you want something you have to work (nothing is free), also the aging process itself involves some suffering, not to mention diseases, wars, betrayals, boredom, cold, heat, tiredness, stress, dissatisfaction, etc.
