What’s unique about Sallie Tomato Zippers by the Yard is they appear to look like metal, but they actually aren’t! These zippers have a nylon coil with a metallic finish, which makes them easy to cut and sew.
Watch the video to learn how to add a zipper pull onto the raw end of Zippers by the Yard using the Handy Zipper Jig made by the Gypsy Quilter. Perhaps you need to re-attach your zipper pull or creating a new zipper with a roll of zippers and pulls (or zipper heads).
My favorite thing about these zippers is that you can coordinate the zipper tape color with your fabric and match the nylon coil color with your purse hardware! The coil is size #3 and #5, which is ideal for handbags, backpacks, totes, laptop carriers, or they’re even fun for exposed zippers on garments!

is there a way to create a double zipper pull with the jig? ie insert 2 pulls into the same zipper?

I would think, you would just turn it over and put in a zipper pull on the other end using the same tool?? I ordered this thingie as soon as I saw this, as I've tried others to no avail. I'm excited about this!!

Sorry, I’m not enthused about this jig. I can’t even begin to get either side of the zipper into the pull. I’ve watched the video numerous times, but now the zipper tape is getting frayed and there is no way it’s going into either channel of the pull. I’m using Zipper tape and pulls from Sallie Tomato. Any ideas that can remedy this? I hesitate to trim the frayed ends because I’m afraid the zipper won’t be long enough for my project.

Hi Kathleen, Thank you so much for reaching out with your questions and comments. Here's a few things to try: - perhaps try adding the zipper pull to the opposite end to the zipper tape, if you haven't already. The zipper pulls can be attached at either end of the tape. - is the zipper tape the two-color striped tape? That style is softer and more pliable than the regular tape, which might have an effect, although I haven't personally noticed a difference. - one of our team members has tried the jig multiple times and still has better success the 'old-fashioned' way (not using the jig), but most of us (at SallieTomato) have found the jig helpful. - and to prevent further fraying of the zipper tape ends, perhaps very small pieces of washi tape folded over the frayed ends would aid in inserting the tape ends into the zipper pull. Thank you for commenting and asking your question! Are you referring to a separating zipper, as in a jacket or a zipper that is already sewn into a project? The Zipper Jig is designed to work with zipper tape ends that can be threaded or slid into a zipper pull. Thanks for watching!
