This engine (EA113) was a nightmare, especially when having to remove the lid and disconnect the air intake from it. The next engine they've used on the same car was EA888 and was a much better improvement, especially that has an independent air intake and you don't need to disconnect anything.

Great Video! That the the best, most thorough video for cam follower replacement I have seen. I especially like that you did not remove the final hose and still replaced cam follower. Most videos I have watched on this subject were taking off the banjo bolt or removing the whole fuel pump from all hoses. Mine is like this vehicle , so no banjo bolt. Thanks for the video.

Hello there really good tutorial on that. Just got the same engine on my newly bought TT 2.0 Tfsi S Tronic BWA engine, sitting at 182.000k I've took a close look at the HPFP and its seems they it has never been changed. So I'm kind worried.
@cars_anatomy3 жыл бұрын

@@cars_anatomy good news just change mine today. Like I've told I guess it was never changed before cause the head of the bolts and nuts didn't have tool marks. And also the o-ring was black. Mine was almost like the original one you took out from your car. Used on the black coat but flat and in good condition, the cam lobe was also clean of marks as well as the HPFP piston. I was really worries cause with this amount of kilometres and still with the original one was worries that would found a hole in the follower, since I've read around here of cars that hey failed way sooner, don't know if it was because of bad oil/maintenance. At least now I'm relieved and know that don't need to worry about it for another 2 ou 3 oil changes. Again great tutorial and info keep does videos up.

I changed my cam follower it runs fine but it seem to be using more fuel why is that . After i changed it . My cam follower was in bad shape no rubber left on it because i wasn't a where of it at that time . Not all the way though the cam follower thank God .
@cars_anatomy Жыл бұрын
there is no rubber, it is made of steel only. the black top is just made of hardened steel. But great job, you might have saved your car! :D The fuel consumption has nothing to do with it, unless you didnt put the fuel lines back properly and now have a fuel leak. So start the car, open the hood and check if there is fuel leaking from the pump.

So you dont need to let the oil out the engine to open the fuel pump ? Because a friend sayd it to me that i have to let the oil out the engine before i work on the fuel pump
@fabiohendel7684 жыл бұрын
The oil is supposed to be in the oil pan because it’s sink by gravity :) I think it’s just a precaution to not burn your hands with it :)
@cars_anatomy4 жыл бұрын
apsolutely no. There is going to be a bit of oil on the follower and that is ok. You need to let the gas (petrol) out slowly, just like in the video, through a small valve on the pump. :)

Hi bro. I just bought a 8J at 150,000km. What damage does it do if not changed?
@cars_anatomy3 жыл бұрын
hi! It has slightly shorter piston throw when pumping fuel, so minimal signs of lowered fuel pressure. If its bad bad, you can end up having metal particles falling off, mixing with oil ands possibly clogging other engine parts causing oil starvation

If you fit the uprated fuel pump then you need to inspect the cam follower every 3 months otherwise you'll destroy the engine when the bits block the oilways.
