HOW TO : Autorotation in DCS - Engine Out with the Huey UH-1H Helicopter

DCS Helicopter Autorotation Gameplay Tutorial - A quick tutorial on how to perform an autorotation in DCS World (A combat flight simulator) with the UH-1H Huey helicopter. Even though this landing was pretty rough, it is enough to walk away from. Performing an autorotation comes down to keeping up your rotor RPM's. You can keep them under control by adjusting your collective and attitude while keeping a steady forward motion at between 60 to 80 knots. Start leveling off at about 150 feet. This video was recorded in the Channel map by Eagle Dynamics.

As far as playing with the attitude for RPM control, worth mentioning that forward cyclic will reduce RPM and aft will raise them. Also will need a little aft cyclic on entry because the nose is gonna drop when you lower the colective. And finally if you work the collective full down in the flare you will have more RPM to spare to cushion. Good job with the tutorial. -Helicopter CFI
