I know I am a bit late to comment, but I want to expand on one thing you said. The "don't live in the past" can be extended to also include, "don't stress about the future". I had a break from the game for about 5 years and am recently back, but obviously my handicap has dropped substantially (in my case, from a 19 to a 30) and I have yet to break 100 since my return. I have the skill to do so, but not the consistency yet. After the first 5 holes on my local course yesterday, I was 2 over par; could not put a foot wrong. I was calm and confident and was playing clever golf with good management. My game fell to bits when I bogeyed the fifth; stroke index 1 so a bogey is fantastic for me. Never mind 100, I was on a role to break 90 for the first time in 5 or 6 years. Long story short, my game fell apart, I was "chasing" the score and ended up shooting a 103. Focusing on my potential score rather than the shot I was playing, completely destroyed my game. Great channel, Chris. Thanks for all the advice!

Thanks for the video instruction Chris! I have only broken 100 one time. I have taken numerous lessons, practiced long and hard yet it seems like each round there is one or two holes that prevent me from breaking 100. I will definitely be implementing your 10 yard rule on the course. I will also go into "Vulcan Mode" so that I can take the emotion out of things. I do try now to not worry about the score of the round and simply worry about enjoying the nice day away from the office. Course management is very important, I feel that with your videos and proper choices off the tee (Keep the driver in the bag) and really working on being more consistent that soon very soon I will not have to concerned about breaking 100 ever again! Many thanks.

Lol!! Reminds me of so many golfers. Golf is actually a game played between your ears - I love the game as it is so much like life and philosophy. I’m actually very calm on the course, regardless of a great shot or a shocker, I remain calm. But I love the 10 yard rule and the philosophy of “take your medicine”. Tom Kite used to say a double bogey was a bad shot followed by a stupid shot. So true.

Slowly learning how to eliminate the disasters from my scorecards. I’ve shot 79, 75 and 79 in the past month. Not bad for a 13 handicap golfer. Next season cannot come soon enough. Great advice. One of the biggest things for me is knowing that I can rely on my short game & my putting when I get out of position. I can still make par and at worst bogie. I have a favorite layup distance of 100yds and can usually get up and down in three from 100 yards out. Really enjoy the content. More please 👍.

Chris, I didn’t think you could hit a bad shot if you tried. That bull’s eye on the tree was priceless. It would have been even better if you’d had to have jump out of the way. Great stuff. Can you do stand up too?

Played best round of my life today with 6 pars and 1 double and rest bogeys until 11 and got a QUAD! Then I pared 12 and bogeyed 13 by inches and started to recover. Until 18. Tee shot was a 3 wood bc driver was to wild all day. I topped it up to lady's tee. Second shot topped again! 3rd shot I used 5 iron to get through trees....yes I should ha e went straight out to fairway but ended up 50 yards into the middle of a huge oak. 2 more to get to the water. Hit perfect 8 way over the green(20 yards more than usual). The bladed a wedge to get on the green so it was in sand. The bladed the sand shot 20 feet past the hole. And fluffed the chip onto the green. By the end I just picked up the ball yelling and losing my head and marked a 5 over. Best round of my life ruined by 2 holes counting for 9 over.

Hi Chris. Thanks for a great video. Talking about that you shouln’d be living in the past. I have one specific hole at my home-golfcourse that’s hell for me. When I am about 50-70 yards from the flag I constantly hit the ground before the ball so the it goes way too short. Or I simply shank it. It is every single time. In the the general I have a bad habit by hitting the ground before the ball, especially with my fairway-woods so I lose about 30 yards every time. How do I avoid that?
@ChrisRyanGolf5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jan, maybe try leaving yourself a different distance, so lap up much further back to say 100yds or more, try to change the situation and you may have more success 👍👍
@davidwalters3136 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris. Great video. On a hole where going right with the driver is a disaster is it better to play for a draw by having a closed set up or just aim more left/take a 3 wood etc. Also does teeing the ball higher in this situation help to try to draw the ball. We have a par 5 at my home club with a cliff to the right but a long drive really helps. Many thanks Best wishes David
@ChrisRyanGolf6 жыл бұрын
Hi David, really depends on the golfer. I would have you hit various clubs and shot shapes in the range visualise that scenario to see which gives you the best results. Could be the draw shot, or it could be just going down to 3 wood 👍
