In Thailand one of the guys dropped his hands all the time so they made a band around his head holding his hands up and he was only allowed to block for some rounds. Don't know if this really helps bit it looked very funny for sure

I always tell kids they should think about a spring. Before thinking about the punch connecting, they should see how the hand is gonna come back to the same place the punch is gonna be thrown, like a spring coming back to the natural position. Repeating this speech every class, helps me to generate that habit and sooner or later it becomes natural in them.

Another great video . Another way is to put the sleeve of the boxing glove between elbow and side of your body without falling down , this keeps your hand up and keeps your elbows in to stop you flaring 👍🥊

I always tell my class to bring their hands back to their face every time... I touch the glove to my cheek on the way back. Still possible to have that problem where it 'loops back' but it helps. "Chin down, shoulder's up, hands back to the face, elbows in, stay relaxed while you do it..." can you do a video on sparring someone who is overly focused on landing a big right hand? (overhand right, straight cross, right uppercut)... i.e. they jab light, loading up the big right hand, but they're fast/strong, and it goes right through the block/catch (jarring). You can circle away to your right to avoid, but what about punishing someone trying to load up the monster right hand?

Tony - I asked this exact question months ago on several other channels. When I was a kid I saw many boxers in the 70's and 80's (Kronk gym fighters like Hearns etc) do the touching of the nose. I knew it was a drill to keep the hands up but was told on other channels that it was just a bad habit from fighters sparring and moving their head gear up. Thanks for clearing this up FINALLY!!!!

Another tip I’ve heard, I think from Shane fazen, was to keep the opposite hand up on your eyebrow. When your punching think about your other hand touching your eyebrow. So I noticed this and have been working on it. I came to the conclusion that part of the reason for dropping hands is the instinct to see whether the punch you just threw had its desired effect. You know, punch - review - punch again. Something that helps me is to train with a much taller opponent in mind as it makes me hold my hands higher to punch at his height.
