Great video very informative. I was doing all the seniors graduating with their caps and gowns and I was using my eyelighter and lighting in a clamshell just like you have. I saved all the seniors that were wearing glasses at the end and to my surprise other than the one tall guy I didn’t have to adjust it until he was up. I thought for sure I was going to have to remove the eyelighter to takes them all wearing glasses but your method work perfect. I wish this video would’ve came out two months ago I wouldn’t of been so nervous LOL. Love the videos you guys post all the time. They are much needed and are great source of information for us photographers

Excellent video. Perhaps changing the position of the glasses vice changing the subject position might describe what we want to do better? Sometimes a slight readjustment of the glasses on the subject's face will solve the problem.

This was very helpful. I especially liked the images that showed the effects of the wrong placement. The only additional tip I would add is to make sure that the subject has the glasses pushed up as far as they will go on the nose. Sometimes ill-fitting glasses slide down, and the top of the frame intersects with the subject's eyes - not a good look!

A different way I approached this issue was using a CPL filter on my camera and a flashlight coming from my light. If I get rid of the flashlight, I don't have reflection. Looks a little weird with 2 lights and flashlights taped to them, but no lens glare.
@tigerheaddude
@tigerheaddude Жыл бұрын
Hi, do you mind explaining a bit more? Wouldn't the polarised filter cut out glare? I didn't quite understand the utility of the flash light
@TBoneProductionsVB
@TBoneProductionsVB 5 ай бұрын
@@tigerheaddudethe flashlight is attached to the strobe so that they project from the same angle. Since the flashlight is a continuous light you can see where glare will happen without even needing to take a shot. You can just look through the viewfinder or live view and adjust the filter until the light from the flashlight disappears. Then since the strobes are from the same angle they should be canceled out by the filter too. It's just a faster way to dial it in and not need to test for the strobes over and over to check for glare.

This might sound like a silly question but instead of umbrella could you used a soft box like a light dome II? New to lighting. Is it up to preference, because I love the look of these shot. But for like a white back ground corporate headshot would this umbrella or soft box be better? Much appreciate in advance for anyones help.
@WestcottLighting
@WestcottLighting 11 ай бұрын
This technique can certainly be applied to any softbox! It's all about understanding the direction and angle of your light.

I explain the angle of incidence by using a tennis ball. It bounces exactly 180 degrees opposite how it was initially tossed.
