Overly confident, a non-team player, never checks with anyone, no meetings to discuss strategies, already knows all the answers, no empathy or understanding, mostly incompetent, steals the credit for the good things that happen, no ownership of bad decisions, and creates a very poor work environment and low morale. The smart people leave. The people who do the best are “suck ups” and worship the narc. Dr. Snipes nailed it. I’m in survival mode. The good news - time brings out the truth - the company suffers under the weight of the narcissist.

I just realized why there were so many narcissists at my last job.. I went to a training that explained their interview process. The interviewees have to say 4-5 positive things about themselves to even be on a list to be considered.

I am 51 now. I have had 3 very abusive employers who were full blown narcissist. They made my life an absolute living hell on earth. I have been unemployed now for 4 years.the longest I have ever gone without a job because of PTSD from working for them. Being a single mom and an empath put me in horrible positions for abuse. I have literally tried repeatedly to get disability because of it and because of major depressive disorder but have always been denied it. I am now realizing I will never be able to go back into the work force again and less I am my own boss. I will definitely never be the same from the abuse I suffered under them.

This was painful to read. My wife went through ten years of NA in her office. As you can imagine, a long story. However, now, she is the kind of boss anyone would love to have. I am praying that you can find the right situation, whether working for yourself, or for a fellow empath.

I worked as a security guard for 10 years at two companies and both of them had the same scenario where I'd have a narcissistic manager who would have narcissistic supervisor that would harass and fire employees. Just trying to survive a day was very stressful because I could hardly do my job due to being harassed. Eventually the narcissistic managers were both fired but it took years until they got in trouble.

I'm really glad I didn't have to interview for a new job right after my last one because most of my coworkers were narcissists and they were constantly sabotaging my work. And the boss before that was trying to sabotage me getting hired anywhere else after I quit, but at least people at the new job saw that. I'd have been that person complaining about it, but it truly was constant sabotage. All I wanted to do was go in and get my work done. They made it a constant struggle. I've never experienced anything that bad before - I've had some truly wonderful working environments in the past - and I wasn't educated enough about it to know better than to tell people, so I guess life circumstances spared me. I'm far wiser now. I've always wondered if there were universal signs in past job interviews that I missed along the way. In some ways, yes, and sometimes I would find out later that they'd just outright lied about everything. So, you can't always tell in the interview. I do appreciate this video, though. I've been wondering what I should be looking for or the questions I should ask next time I have to interview for a job. But, in the end, maybe it'll end up being more about gut feeling than anything else.

Everyone has narcissistic tendencies. The true narcissist will not acknowledge constructive criticism
@DocSnipes4 ай бұрын
You're absolutely right that everyone can display narcissistic tendencies to some extent. It's a natural part of the human experience because we all have moments when we prioritize our own needs or feel defensive. However, there’s a key difference between occasional narcissistic behavior and a true narcissistic personality disorder (NPD). For individuals with NPD, the issue goes deeper than occasional tendencies. One hallmark of pathological narcissism is a consistent inability or refusal to accept constructive criticism. True narcissists often react with defensiveness, blame-shifting, or even aggression when faced with feedback that challenges their self-image. This is rooted in their fragile self-esteem, which makes it difficult for them to accept anything that threatens their inflated sense of self. In contrast, someone without narcissistic traits can usually reflect on feedback, even if it's uncomfortable, and may use it for growth. Recognizing and working on our occasional narcissistic tendencies is what helps us develop healthier relationships and more balanced self-perception. I’d be grateful if you were to share what you found most useful from the video. Also, if you're interested in more tips on the topic or if you want to explore my video library, you can use my AI: allceus.com/AskDocSnipes.

I haven't listened yet, but this title is concerning😐. Obviously NPD can result in very negative behaviors, but like MDD, PTSD, and ADHD it's a real condition and is often based in neurological differences. The idea of actively discriminating just doesn't sit right with me.
@awilddove99092 жыл бұрын
Naturally, if someone with NPD is treating people poorly, they continued take criticism, or they causing dysfunction in the workplace that should be addressed, but there are plenty of job that don't require a ton of social interaction and honestly, should we actually be encouraging "friendships" in the workplace? That's usually messy. Work and life should be separate anyway.
