These are a lot of traits that were encouraged in some ‘life coaching’ seminars in mid 2000’s!! Being taught to over exaggerate, how to trick people into doing what you want, massive egoic stuff. To make people be ‘successful’ and ‘law of attraction’ stuff. Wow. I just felt so much of this stuff that was being encouraged in these free ‘success seminars’ life coaching events, were very phoney and toxic. They also spun people up into a frenzy to then try gaslight them into buying extra courses that cost a fortune. Also people force selling pyramid schemes/MLMs use these traits to make people feel guilty and buy into the schemes.

Yes, I recall college and leadership studies. Good leaders like Edward Deming were no longer important and behavioral economics was brought in so pple became transactional. Then racism was written into economics and business. I saw a grift going. And the outcome today are complicated because pple lose emotional sobriety and dsyrelgated because their internal validation is off. Time back with my elders as in family for 13 years showed me I was right to lrave, not look back and my family system is in reparenting, retooling, reschooling, not reinventing not changing but trying to be. To be in life is good enough. I'm lagging behind because I'm concerned that god is not helpful or not hearing prayers. I feel ignored by god because my perspective is a little sad. I accepted being melancholy. My astigmatism was fixed this year and the adjustment is ongoing. Everything looks different. Support to you doctor, thank you for good education.

Social media has come up as an avenue to earn well without going through fair avenues such as education, training, years of hardwork and unfair dynamics like nepotism and exploitation. Its easier and common to exhibit narc traits to be liked and accepted online. Lots of people interpret being an a hole as having self respect or power.

As crazy as it seems, that's where we're at as a society... and as a millennial or somebody that grew up in the 90s and early 2000s, I'm not proud of it - but I will admit that like a lot of other people - my ego and bias towards trending concerns will get me to realize that even when I think I'm in need of recognition and value I rightfully seek; I have to tell myself that things could always be worse - even if I don't always like what is going on in the world.

my sister was a total narcissist. i remember about 25 years ago i lived next to her in a apartment and everyone had their own parking place and she would never let me use mine and always parked both of her cars in them and made me park on the street. then when i said something to her about it she yelled and screamed at me telling what a pos i was. yeah the nerve of me to want something that i was paying for. you just wouldn't believe some of the things she did. im sure you've met people like her in your office but you don't see them in their raw natural state. it's quite astonishing how they can change like chameleons in literally seconds. my sister could get up on sunday morning, beat the snot out of her husband, load his battered and bruised body in their wagon queen family truckster, sit in church, hold his hand, sing glory glory halleluiah, teach sunday school, and shake the pastors hand, then go home and within seconds beat up her husband again. she was a mean, nasty, abusive person. i have nightmares to this day of some of the things she did to me as a child. i wish i wish i would have stood up to her and put her in her place. i don't condone violence and think it should be avoided if possible, but honestly sometimes its necessary to make people understand. but i never stood up to her and just let her do whatever she wanted and now i realize what a mistake that was. and i thought it was normal for siblings to hate each other. there was no internet or social media so i didn't have anything to compare it to. but as i got out in the world i saw siblings not only not hating each other, but most cared and loved each other which was a culture shock to say the least

2:20 not only does it preserve self-worth, its a strategy that actually works to get what they want in a lot of cases. I cant imagine lying about what ive done before, because i cant imagine the stress of getting foind out for lying. A narcissitic gives no thought to that at all, and theres so many instances where people in high power roles are found to be lying about major parts of their lives.. ahem... George Santos...
@DocSnipes25 күн бұрын
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! You bring up an important point-exaggerating achievements can be an effective short-term strategy for narcissistic individuals to gain power, admiration, or resources. The lack of concern for being “found out” often stems from the way narcissists are more focused on immediate rewards rather than long-term consequences. For some, this behavior is a defense mechanism to preserve self-worth, while for others, it’s part of a more manipulative or entitled mindset. For those who value integrity, like yourself, the idea of lying can seem unthinkable because of the stress and potential consequences. But narcissistic individuals often lack that same sense of self-reflection or accountability, which allows them to act without considering the impact of their actions on others or even on their own future credibility. This tendency, as you mentioned with public figures, highlights how narcissism can ripple outward to affect not just personal relationships but society as a whole. If you found this video helpful, please consider sharing it to help others explore this topic. For more in-depth insights and tools, visit DocSnipes.com/Clones.

I hear your frustration, and you’re not alone in feeling this way. It can be really overwhelming when it seems like rudeness is everywhere, especially when it’s coming from so many different directions. Taking a step back and focusing on what you can control-like protecting your own peace and setting boundaries-can help when the world feels like it’s getting too much. It’s okay to feel fed up, and it’s also important to take care of yourself during these times. Thank you for sharing how you’re feeling, and I hope you find a bit of relief in knowing others understand what you’re going through.

can you do a video series on the effects of a parent abandoning the children for 10 years through Elementary and adolescence? they reappear after the kids are grown after suffering alone and needing help from others as they age. so they right back up like nothing happened and never address the devastation they caused and the kids don't speak up because they don't want to chase the parent off again. sometimes reappearing involves taking financial advantage of the college child's fresh credit in light of the desperation for acceptance and attention from the parent. Sometimes requiring abandonment of the parent who stayed. when my child reunited with their estranged parent, at my urging mind you, they flipped and abandoned , claiming me to be the demanding self-centered narcissist and declaring the entire relationship between us as toxic when it was, in fact, simply structure and discipline that a normal parent should provide. Get the narcissistic parent is able to feed into the yearnings of the abandoned child and help to develop that narcissistic seed inside of the abandoned child. Interactions with the parent who stayed and provided now appear to be demanding and selfish when reacting to the new level of disrespect and ingratitude being shown now that the runaway parent has reappeared. This family crisis is now common with social media group's littered but the shrapnel of broken-hearted parents suddenly being cut off from all Communications in the name of boundaries and self-care. All to the benefit of a narcissistic new boyfriend or return of the absent narcissistic parent ready to take advantage. the grandchildren are also hit with the shrapnel and cut off from the nurturing parent and potentially impacted for a lifetime by the stonewalling of a now runaway child and subsequent estrangement from the stable nurturing grandparents cut off from what once was a healthy vibrant family. Before the parent Wars. The jealousy of the narcissistic runaway parent drives the wedge sometimes permanently between the reacquired children and the devoted parent now left behind in scorn and resentment as the tables were turned upside down during the love bombing and reclaiming of the hearts of the children. Talk about crazy making. Can anyone step through a process of reconciliation or is all hope lost? 0 contact makes it quite difficult to not lose years if not a lifetime of relationship due to the destructive schemes of the narcissistic parent.

@@saram3156 thank you so much for your words of wisdom and your consideration. Unfortunately we hit a patch where my daughter and I both were falling apart at the same time for many reasons but she was in her twenties and still at home and not fully functional suffering from some other disorders. We did not negotiate the tricky Waters and she probably inappropriately attached to her young and female inexperienced therapist but at least she was finally willing to go. And then she went through a crisis and when she came out of that she booted me out of her life and moved in with her father. Maybe her way of launching although it was traumatic. We never had a structured discussion and she went no contact. So now we have been estranged for two years. My youngest left town for nursing school and figured out life so that was part of things also. But a major upside to all of this sadness that my middle girl with the special needs did go to live with her , from whom she had been estranged for over ten years since his Antics and the divorce. So the two of them definitely had things to work on. I had done what I could and was out of ideas aside from outside help. I was at a point I really needed to start taking care of myself, since she was grown. So it worked out best for her, I think, since my words were no longer effective. I do hope one day we will figure out some level of Civility. However, if that day never comes and she has found and built a happy and productive life, that is all I really want for her. Parenting isn't for sissies that's for sure. We don't get along with everybody just because we're related. I most definitely miss her terribly, but we both needed the peace and I do understand she's doing the best she can with what she has. I'm moving on with my life and hoping one day she will care enough to reach out. Since my kids don't want my hard-earned advice, I decided to do my best to help other people to work through or avoid completely the pain I have had in relationships. Helping people helps. As you must know :-) thanks again for the encouragement and please say a little prayer for us. We are good people. Life is just hard sometimes.

12:13 this is the most dangerous trait of narcissism
@DocSnipes25 күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment! Exaggerating achievements can indeed be a dangerous aspect of narcissism, as it can distort reality and harm relationships. When someone consistently inflates their accomplishments, it may be rooted in deep insecurities or a need for validation, but it often comes at the cost of trust and authenticity in their interactions. This behavior can make it challenging to build meaningful connections and can lead to feelings of alienation for those around them. Understanding the underlying reasons behind these behaviors-like unmet needs or early childhood experiences-can be key to addressing them, whether in oneself or in others. If you found this video helpful, please consider sharing it to help others better understand this complex topic. For more in-depth tools and insights, visit DocSnipes.com/Clones.

the narcissism can happen in a child even as a result of a staggering single parent who was also abandoned and left for dead, walking wounded, overwhelmed by the number of children to care for and trying to provide physically, emotionally, and spiritually for all in the face of the unstable and assault of insulting and irrational behavior of the absent parent. far more sympathy and care should be shown to these single parents whose kids were abandoned by self-serving ex partners who failed miserably to Step Up, show up, or pay up, for the kids they created and used up for all of those years until something better came along. Often having their own children. Sometimes, somehow, instead of gratitude and appreciation toward the single parent who stayed and endured and overcame, the kids end up despising the work ethic and resenting the absence of the responsible remaining parent and everything gets twisted around. Often leaving the parent who took off an opening to swoop back in and be all smiles and gifts, only to take off again. Leaving the children all enamored and wanting and chasing after that absent parent approval. The kids tend to listen and believe the one-sided and divisive propaganda coming from that absent parent. And they team up and turn on the responsible devastated parent who did the right thing all along including promoting the relationship with the absent parent upon their return. The situation is common, even epidemic, in a society of so many one-parent homes and blended families struggling with resentful kids. The kids are taking for granted the homes they were raised in and now resent the parent who stayed and provided. The mentoring step , who comes in with hopes of rebuilding a hurting family and Desiring only love and affection, can actually expect nothing in return because of the Dark Void of Abandonment left inside the now abused children. it freaking sucks and no one is helping these kids See Clearly what actually happened in the family unit and where the trust and admiration and appreciation should lie. The responsible parent supports the child and promotes the love of both . Yet the runaway parent wants to win. Even when the kids are grown, this flip can happen. There is an epidemic of mothers and daughters estranged because of it. I challenge you to listen back to this teaching in the eyes of the abandoned child who is looking at the parent who stayed and the parent who left and judging the parent who raised them against the parent who showed back up and is now all smiles and gifts. these teachings can be exceptionally unfair to the parent who stayed and has remarried and sacrificed so much with so little appreciation for providing a good home and environment for all, including the returning parent. Can anyone help heal the healthy parents who have been Pawns to The Narcissist as well?
@fredjones5542 жыл бұрын
This is tragic. The abandonment issues make the child vulnerable to the absent narcissist.
@HopeWins7772 жыл бұрын
@@fredjones554 exactly. And then they caused a rift with the parent who stayed. It is epidemic between mothers and daughters who are estranged now from this cuz the daughters want their dads and as they age they have to pick because the narcissistic parent will not promote a relationship with the parent who did the right thing and did not take off.

What is the complete opposite of a narcissist? I did have some very serious ACEs that I'm now in later life struggling with. One of my abusers being a serious narcissist, I seem to have gone polar the totally other way and am additionally bewildered by how the world does indeed seem to be full of narcissists, particularly at the top. One of the notable aspects seems to be as a caretaker now missing something to caretake for. And increasingly realising about the world that doesn't care additionally pressing on me in direct and indirect ways. I don't know if such an opposite reaction forms a part of your model? not sure if you are going to risk taking on the sociology department and their "overly" influence of character identity and the theory of subjectifying (categorizing) instead of forming "self" identity... also when an educational system is no longer teaching subject and content replacing it with activism (influencer/victomhood) virtue hunting/seeking for the subjective good... also when autism is characterized by being in 20% below and above the 60% "neurotypicals" causing 20% to not receive the adequate education since the class is double the size of the classroom needed while the upper portion lose out on their (since the education system removed any type of "enrichment programs") potential purpose.. Modern hustle culture is dripping with narcissism, especially real estate hustlers who brag about gentrifying their hometowns... where is the love for your fellow neighbors?

Over mothering. A father has to step in a tell a mom to let go. The child must learn to stand on their own before five. All feminism aside the mom with one child has literally put all her eggs in one basket. She thinks by over loving she protects the child. A good mom is an adequate mom. She denies herself by denying the child and allow them self sufficiency. Over loving is not going to fix it. It will cripple the child for the rest of their life.

Just a thought but what about the “everybody gets a trophy” mentality? Children are no longer taught that not everyone wins and that they have to work hard to achieve success. Instead we reward children just for showing up for an activity.

Participation trophy culture and victim culture, the latter is what participation trophy culture arose from. Losing got replaced by victimhood. Nobody wants to feel like a loser because there is too much accountability involved. So they'd rather choose victimhood where it is always somebody else's fault. The celebration of victimhood is what creates narcissists.

My guess is that at this point, 1/2 the population is super high in traits. Super high. Kentucky where I am is absolutely overrun. The republican party low levels thrive on this. Not that Dems are much better. I'm sure they are all over Tennessee too. I spent 9 years in Thailand. Authoritarian Narc central. 3 years each in China and Korea - Confucian Narc Parents. 3 years in Colombia S America - 80% of the pop raised in single mom homes - narc off the charts. Welcome to planet Narc.

We have definitely become a Society with a Crisis of Responsibility, I can't see how anybody with a clue could deny that. The Narcissist problem seems to stem from this belief that every child is "God's little gift to humanity" deal. There is nothing wrong with building up a child's self esteem and encouraging them to aim high. This is a balancing act because as we have seen in our society, this seems to create an incredible sense of entitlement where many of this generation feel that Society owes them. Owes them an education, owes them a Job, etc. We have really created a Frankenstein like monster in our country. It seems that Narcissism and the whole Snowflake thing seem to go hand in hand.

Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is a complex condition that is influenced by a variety of factors, including genetics, environment, and upbringing. It's important to note that not all children of narcissists will become narcissists themselves. However, the environment in which a child grows up can significantly influence their personality development. Children who grow up with narcissistic parents may be exposed to certain behaviors and attitudes that could potentially contribute to the development of narcissistic traits. For instance, they may learn that self-importance, a lack of empathy, and a need for admiration are normal behaviors. They may also be taught to exaggerate their achievements and to seek constant approval and admiration from others. In some cases, a narcissistic parent might communicate messages that it's not about how the child feels, but rather about how they make the parents look. This could potentially lead to the child developing a grandiose sense of self-importance and a need for constant admiration, which are key traits of NPD. However, it's crucial to remember that not all children who grow up in such environments will develop NPD. Many factors, including individual resilience, the presence of other positive role models, and access to supportive resources, can influence a child's development. In conclusion, while a narcissistic parent can influence a child's development and potentially contribute to the development of narcissistic traits, it does not necessarily mean that they will 'breed' narcissists. It's a complex interplay of many factors, and each individual's development is unique.
