I get what you're saying, but being attractive doesn't just have to be a physical attribute. I understand the whole "look good, feel good" paradigm, but it shouldn't serve as the only basis for one's source of confidence or simply be correlated to it.

@@plague6716 i think it has more to do with self esteem than the way you look. People form personal opinions about their outward appearance that aren't accurate. Someone once told me that the way people see you is more like if you squinted your eyes while looking in the mirror, because not everyone sees every little detail like you do. It's simple to say that people would accept you better or like you more if you looked more attractive, but the way you feel about yourself is self esteem, and how you portray that is confidence, what you do with that is charisma. (At least that what I think.)

Margot it an actress who knows how to come across as charming and endearing. Nothing happening on these talk shows hasn’t already been run past her and her team. This video demonstrates how Margot’s team regularly set up “embarrassing” talk show situations (providing the shows’ teams with photos and stories in advance). Margot is very in control of all the “embarrassment” she suffers because it is strategically created. How she handles this constructed “embarrassment” is a key part of the image her team wishes to create. Embarrassment and her reaction to it has been a key part of building a relatable image for someone who is otherwise (by virtue of talent and extreme beauty) quite unrelateable.

Give yourself permission to be authentic and transparent: Just speak out loud your inner nervous dialogues. 3. Lean into embarrassment to minimize it and regain confidence: Spend some more time to elaborate on embarrassing moment. If you move away from embarrassing moment then you will lose audience. 4. Break the golden rule: See if you can find a way to see the positive. If not, try and bail them out of that moment. As always my weird passion is to share summaries like started doing it on my channel with PDF summaries.✌ Let's try to stay confident in weird situations.😟

To be fair, Margot Robbie doesn't really have a boss she has to worry about when publicly embarrassed because part of the intention of those shows is literally to embarrass a famous person; however, the news anchor was probably most concerned with getting in trouble with management. No matter how charismatic he could have been to the public, the main folks that matter to him, his management, will respond poorly (I am confident in this because I work from home and know of similar things happening and the fallout). Love your videos and this is the only time I can think of where a consideration may have been missed. Y'all are amazing at what you do! I could be wrong, too!

What I've also learned, from my experience, is sometimes being non-reactive to a bad situation, can also help. Makes it seem like you're in control of the situation, then all you have to do is make light of the situation, have a laugh and move on... If you freeze and dwell on it, making it more awkward than it probably needs to be aka if you feel uncomfortable, everyone else will feel uncomfortable too.

BBC dude handled his interview disruption brilliantly IMO even if it seems off the charisma books. It's about context, you have to keep seriousness sometimes, which he didn't do entirely, he even smiled a bit but wanted to keep the vibe of the conversation so it didn't go off the rails, Margo was more allowed to go off the rails in her more lighthearted interviews.

I actually agree. For the purpose of charisma breakdowns, I think the use of it was to make a point. But on live air, discussing something relatively serious, I think the guy was trying to keep the topic and tone relevant. Edit: I do think he could've allowed himself just a teensy bit more leeway in smiling though

@@joshuag506 Agreed... The contexts were completely off. He was in a serious news interview as an expert.... I agree he could've smiled more, but he was probably panicking on the inside and trying to focus on what was being asked while figuring out how to stop his children from being more distracting (especially as his daughter seems like a boss), whereas the next example as an "embarrassing" adorable photo of Margot when she was young on a humorous late night show...

in short: OWN it. not as in, entering a room like "HEY GUYS I AM SO PATHETIC LOOK WHAT I JUST DID", but if people wanna put you down over it: OWN IT. makes you absolutely relatable, attractive and yes....confident. sometimes being embarassed is also so not important in the great big picture. owning it means getting OVER it so things can continue. which is in end result way more mature than making a huge drama out of it.

I got dragged along to a "ladies night" (basically an excuse for the guys at the local rugby club to strip off for charity). Me, an introvert who'd rather stay in and read books, got pulled up on stage. I was so embarrassed but I laughed and played along. I could deal with it. Another embarrassing situation was when my daughter's step mum mentioned an embarrassing, private family situation she could only have heard from my ex. In that case I felt completely overwhelmed. Instead of mentioning that I was hurt or angry, I pretended that everything was fine then got home and had a panic attack. If I could have laughed it off or faced the issue head on, it would have been much better.

This past Saturday night I was talking to this girl and she spent about 11 minutes explaining where she was from and where she has lived. When she finished explaining, the first thing I asked was, "so where are you from?" ಠ_ಠ She pointed out that she literally just explained that. I leaned into it and commented on my impeccable listening skills. And we laughed it off as I told her that I meant to ask where her family currently resides. Our lives are made up of embarrassing and awkward moments and it makes it so much more fun when you realize that it is indeed _fun_. Also, when you voice your inner embarrassment and elaborate, it relaxes everyone else too. It shows them that it's okay if they stumble and it takes away tension. Everyone is allowed to be themselves, be open, and enjoy it all. And in a one on one situation, not only does owning the embarrassment make for a good time but the authenticity can also be intimate or create an inside joke between those involved

I agree with thinking positively, being authentic, transparency and avoiding undue negativity. The rest, I wouldn't bother with. I don't think it's honest or necessary to smile all the time just to appeal to others (or repel them with frowns, on the negative end of the spectrum). Forcing yourself to smile when you don't naturally feel like smiling can lead to creating a fake persona. The harder you try to avoid being yourself, the harder it will get to keep up the fake persona. Eventually, your true self will seep through and people will notice the inconsistency, exposing you as a fake. Understanding, some people recognize fake personas in others but still accept them. Personally, I can't stand fake smiles (and they're not hard to spot). When someone is talking to me and wearing a limp, emotionally-disconnected smile, I'm compelled to distrust them. Many people in the public eye put on fake smiles, especially politicians and we all know how "honest" they are. I don't think happiness is a constant state and people who try to sell the idea that they're always happy, are being dishonest to others and themselves.

As an overanalyser of social situations (ENFP), I constantly consider how a situation and my reaction will affect my reputation (I also play a lot of RPGs so that helps)... This is helpful information here, it's really good to turn your embarrassment into fun ;)

As always, a great content, Charlie. I've always wondered where you get all this knowledge from and I figured that you have some books you read about charisma. So if it's not much to ask for, could you give us the list of the books you read and you've read in the past that are related to charisma?

As always, great advice for skill development. Sometimes people lack the skills for how to do something. Social skills training is sorely needed, but having a mindset that is self-accepting, self confident and self-respecting is what will get you through every situation you confront. You may not always know how to handle or "behave" in a given situation (and that may cause people to judge and dislike you) but if your sense of self and positive feelings (and self-talk) about yourself is strong, you'll always feel good about yourself regardless of the situation. Sometimes, our behavior might not be great but that doesn't mean that we, in total, are bad. We are more than just our actions and behaviors. Globalizing one situation to condemn ourselves totally as a person is the road to disaster. If you need help and support in changing your mindset, seek out friends, family, therapists, a coach etc. You don't need to suffer alone.
