if you have a high CH level, don't use cal-hypo shock. That just adds MORE calcium and increases hardness. Stick to liquid chlorine in that case.

I used test strips, all chemicals level are normal, but total harness are usually indicating high or very high. Not sure what is the reason, any recommendations? Thanks

I have tiny white diced floating is that calcium? Otherwise water is not cloudy at all. What are options beyond if hose water is hard?

What if it is a metal water trough with pool sheild as a seal. I have a intex pump. But i have white flakes all on top of the water. Its only had water in it a week

He didn't mention that once this comes in contact with water, it BOILS AND IS VERY HOT. I suggest using your calcium in your skimmer net and walking around u til it dissolves. This is important. You don't want to just dump your calcium in your pool, because it takes a few moments to break down,, and can ruin your pools lining ESPECIALLY IF ITS VYNL. You need to know this, it can save you thousands in repairs. Skimmer net has never failed me, and I have not been burned. Make sure this does not get dropped by your pool or in, CHEMICAL REACTIONS WILL OCCUR

Muriatic acid lowers pH, which is a way to balance high hardness in pools. It doesn’t necessarily solve the issue of high hardness, but it keeps the water safe and swimmable. My calcium hardness was 300 yesterday (alk was 100, fine), so I had to drop pH to around 7.3 with acid to balance it out. It’s still 300 but now the lower pH means it’s comfortable. I usually just wait for rain or fill with hose water to lower the hardness if it gets too high (300+).

HCL doesn't react with the calcium, any calcium in the pool stays in until you wash it out (water change). What calcium will do (if starting low, and raising it) is replace "alkalinity" in the LSI equation with calcium, allowing you to push alkalinity down into range without making your water corrosive.

I added the water from my sump pit to my pool and it spiked my hardness level from 120-500. I am just going to attach a hose end filter to a sump pump and recirculate everything for a while. Plus not use the sump water in the future. How did you get your levels down?

i live in arizona and the water coming out of the pipe already has 300ppm of calcium in it, so refilling the pool isn't an option. are there any other choices?

Is it a concrete pool? 300 PPM shouldn't be too bad. But use a hose filter whenever you refill.

Hi there, cool video but... just cause I'm having issue dissolving the enormous quantity of calcium I have to add to the pool, does anyone know what is the chimical composition of the stuff?? And moreover... How much trouble am I in if I can't have it high enought??? I had to add 28Kg of the stuff and after 20Kg I can't see the bottum of the pool, I have to backwash every 3-4 hours and all of that with the trouble of dissolving it into 6-8 bucket of hot water... What a pain in the ....

You really should do some water changes if you can't get it high enough. Hopefully you can. I have to add 25 lbs but like you mentioned it is very difficult mixing so much. So I'm just taking my time and if it takes another day, oh well. Better to be safe and not rush or push yourself past your limits. If you're getting frustrated, it's not the best time to be doing a dangerous task. Good luck Hun ❤️

@@sonshineandsong unfortunately the water here is too low, witch is the reason why I have to add that much calcium. I never had it high enough, but I found out that if I add it a bit at a t8me and put the filter to recirculate for a few hours it désolée better. However it is an isssue. A big pool About 140 000L of weather is not an easy water to have filled with calcium!

My pool currently had a cloud only in the deep end .as baking soda was added bringing up the alk/ph The cloud lightened so I can see the bottom but the cloud isn't gone.

Check your chlorine levels and make sure the free and total chlorine are the same. If not, add non-chlorinated shock.
