Thanks for the good information. Living in Hawaii our water is normally high with calcium Ie hard water from the street. I am planning on using 2 X10 filters on 2 hoses when filling hopefully it will help with the hard water.

Good afternoon, that’s pretty uncommon but I’ve seen it before. if you have high calcium coming off of the street, I would use a calcium hardness reducer. Caltreat makes a good calcium hardness reducer if you need some direction. I assume your having some scaling issues. I would use metal and stain control to help with this. Normally, you’ll add an ounce a week to prevent scaling. Hope this helps!

Hi thanks my name is Pete for all the info you give on your U tube channel. I live in Florida Stuart Fl, I do use Salt in my water which may account for the hardness in my water. I am trying to get it balanced the best i can. Any suggestions would be Great. I am a subscriber to your channel

Good afternoon, my suggestion would be start with the basics. Balance the pH, then chlorine. Remember, that salt is sodium chloride and turns into chlorine so you should maintain at least a 2-3 parts per million of chlorine. Until you do this you really don't have a true reading of the rest of the test strip. My biggest suggestion is get into a habit of maintaining your hot tub every week same day, same time. This is one of the biggest issues I see with water chemistry. Let me know when you get to this point and I will help you find your weekly regiment but this is where we need to start. Hope this helps!

So I am having to add both a ph decreaser and a calcium increaser. How would I go abouts doing that and in what order?? I very much appreciate the video, if I had not watched it I would have just put them in, and seeing how it clouded up, no telling what kind of a mess I would have had. THANKS

Good evening, with chemicals I always say one at a time so I would start with getting the pH correct as this can affect chemical readings. Once this is correct, retest and balance the Calcium accordingly. Hope this helps!

My water is soft with a high ph. Should i start with lowering ph, or adding calcium?
@atlantahottubcenter Жыл бұрын
Good afternoon, always start by getting your pH and Chlorine in the ideal range before adjusting anything else. Hope this helps!

I just bought a used hot tub, I scrubbed it, shocked it, filled it. After filling with water I thought there were paint chips swirling around. I'm thinking now it's calcium flakes... when I did a test strip everything came back as "ideal" Except for "total hardness" which came back at 0. Is that possible?
@atlantahottubcenter2 жыл бұрын
Good evening, do the flakes crumble in your fingers? Sounds like calcium flakes to me. How often do you drain and refill?

Hey guys. I'm having a calcium scale problem right now and looking for the optimum way to deal with it. The scale will not wipe off by hand. The shell feels vaguely like sandpaper, although not horrible. I've seen all kinds of remedies posted. Some say adding vinegar will deal with it, which makes sense as vinegar dissolves calcium. Others suggest a "SpaGuard Stain and Scale" product, but the *amount* to add varies from "1oz per 300 gallons" to "use the whole bottle at once." I want to solve this issue without having to scrub the thing out. I also don't want to spend and arm and a leg doing this, so I want to do it right the first time. What do you suggest?
@atlantahottubcenter9 ай бұрын
Good morning, I hate to say it but scrubbing is the only way at this point. I would be very careful and use a Goo Gone type product and a degreaser such as Simple Green. I would do one section at a time and rinse thoroughly to make sure you don’t damage the clear coat on the shell. I would use a soft bristle brush and a magic eraser. Hope this helps!

We just filled the spa and the calcium is always super high, it must be on our water. We need a way to lower. It's the water, so draining won't do anything.

Good afternoon, seems like you got some good advice. On the the calcium, I would use a calcium hardness reducer. Caltreat makes a good calcium hardness reducer if you need some direction. I would also look into SilkBalance. This is good stuff for a water conditioner. Hope this helps!

refill the tub with an inline water softening filter on the hose
@atlantahottubcenter Жыл бұрын
@@yellowboi4920 Good morning, yes this could help. However, I have only found that garden hose filter to be effective in smaller cases. If it’s a larger or bigger problem you’ll need increaser or decreaser to take care of it in my experience but it definitely helps. Good call! Hope this helps!

My water is very soft and I have been adding Calcium Increaser however, it appears to me that once I added it my water turned cloudy, How do you add increaser. if it is going to react like that?
@atlantahottubcenter2 жыл бұрын
Good morning, Depends on everything your adding besides increaser. In other words, increaser doesn't work well with numerous products. Increaser also doesn't do well in large quantities either. if it where me I would get all my chemical levels correct besides the calcium and then not add anything but sanitizer for a couple of weeks. Then I would test the increaser in a seperate bucket with the hot tub water to make sure it doesn't have a reaction before adding it to the hot tub. Hope this helps!

I have high calcium and I need to get it down. What do I do?
@atlantahottubcenter2 жыл бұрын
Good morning, water softeners can be added to hot tubs with high calcium hardness to help lower the water hardness. However, the easiest way to lower a hot tubs high calcium hardness level is to partially or completely drain your hot tub water and replace it with fresh water. Hope this helps!
@MichaelBoelton8 ай бұрын
i live in arizona and the water coming out of the pipe already has 300ppm of calcium, so a partial pool drain is not really practical. are there any other ways of reducing the calcium level?
@atlantahottubcenter8 ай бұрын
Good afternoon, they do make calcium hardness reducer. However, you'll want to go through the same process above and make sure it doesn't have a chemical reaction with the other chemicals in the hot tub. Hope this helps!

Hi I love your videos I'm pretty sure we have watched them all to prepare for our first hot tub. We are getting the cameo and our hardness is at 78 ppm from the tap. Our dealer says to add 11 oz of increaser but we are concerned with that amount. What do you think?
@atlantahottubcenter2 жыл бұрын
Good afternoon, remember to always test the calcium increaser with your hot tub water before you put it in and always do it very slowly. Test the water as you go and only add what you need. I've personally never heard of a dealer giving a customer an exact amount without testing it themselves. Hope this helps!
