I like it how the demo video of the unbalanced camera is super shaky. This guy must be drinking a lot of coffee. Love these stabilisers though.

Yes, you can. I take ALL of the weights off for action cams and use just the retaining screw as a weight. Many people use too much weight so that if you move the stabiliser, it rocks when you stop. The secret is to use just enough weight so that if you hold it horizontal, it takes roughly two seconds to drop to vertical. Another advantage of these mechanical stabilisers is that you can lock the grip down and use it just as a hand grip with the frame used alas another grip point, or even fold it down and use it as a table tripod. Also, just hold it still with your right hand and use one finger of your left hand to push the camera around slowly, and you get a nice smooth pan shot without having* to swing yourself around. These things are better than they appear at first, once you get used to them. The guy demonstrating it here seems to prefer a lot of weight at the bottom and he’s left the strap on his camera which would result in it swinging around. To get good results.... a) Set the camera up fully with lens cover off, and strap and filters on. b) Aim for less weight at the bottom. It’s also easier to carry around. c) once it balances, practise with it before making films. It takes a little getting used to.
