Haha xD So you're lucky! My mum has been riding bareback when she was younger (she learned riding herself on her uncle's draft horse. She had to look funny :D) and when she first time sat in the saddle, she didn't know what to do. She fell something about... 4 times at one lesson? xD Yup, and she's not riding now :C Kind of sad

They have pads specifically made for ridding bareback....I do NOT recamend the ones with stirrups on it since they are dangerous!! Just a regular bareback pad works fine....and it helps spread your weight off the spine( and your tail bone!)
@lillys48735 жыл бұрын
I procrastinate too much not really if you’re experienced. if you have good balance and can distribute you’re weight, you can ride for as long as you’d like : )

Lol this is how first learned to ride (when I was 8) my trainer had me ride bareback and when I was able to walk, trot, canter (and post the trot at a bare back lol) and then I was able to ride in a saddle and omg it was so much more easy to ride in the saddle. Then i learned to jump and barrel race (now 14 I barrel race (competing) and jumping (for fun!)) Love your channel!
@markclark41376 жыл бұрын
that`s awesome!! I`ve been wanting to do barrel racing for so long!!At my old barn they did barrel racing, but my mom just had me do regular lessons. I`ve been riding since I was 2 since my parents used to own horses, but I never progressed past a trot until I was 12 so now that I`m a better rider(I`m almost 15)and I`ll be getting my first horse( We just moved to a 7 acre property so we finally have room for horses!!) hopefully sometime next year so I`ll be able to start barrel racing!! eventually I`ll start posting videos on youtube and get a channel started( my actual channel is Jaybirdeclipse and only has 1 video on it lol) what is your favorite part about barrel racing? What breed do you ride? I`m hoping for an appendix or a Quarter horse cross, but I`m not sure what I`mgetting yet... either way I`ll still have to help pay for him lol

I first learned to ride bareback. I feel like it does wonders for developing your center of balance and then once you get a saddle, it's just so much easier. I rarely fall off my horse as a result, and I often trail ride bareback or just do long gallops bareback. It's so much fun.

I love the tips and the reminder to always wear a helmate and be safe because accidents do happen I was riding my Arabian that I trained and have completed on for five years and he spooked and stopped dead in his tracks and jumped sideways i went the other way and landed on my head. After going to the doctor it was confirmed that I had a concussion. We are all good now and are back to normal but freak accidents absolutely do happen.

I have tried to mount my horse bareback, and he pins his ears, bites, moves away quickly. ya. he hates it. so I am lazy and always mount with the mounting block, but I will try to work on his behavior. you guys look great! :)
@slaptail52877 жыл бұрын
Make sure you aren't accidentally jerking his mouth/hitting him with your leg on the way up, or landing hard on his back or you could make him sour when he is mounted. Does he do the same thing with a saddle on when you mount from the block? If he doesn't, he may be uncomfortable.
@catbus78247 жыл бұрын
No, I have not even gotten to getting up on his back bareback from the ground, all I have to do is make a little jumping motion and put weight through my hands on his back and he basically says "NOPE!" and no, not really, he will try to walk away from the block and sometimes he will pin his ears slightly when I mount from the block. When I have had behavior issues with this horse, he works better bareback, sometimes with a halter tied around instead of a bridle. Thank you for your advice! :)
@helenhodge-croom96356 жыл бұрын
D ont feel bad ...my horse is too tall for me to swing on!! He's 16hh and I have to use the trailer fender to mount him!!! He is a sweety though and will stand there no matter what you do to him( lay over backwards and flip off the other side....litterall flip under him like a hula hoop.....my n eices and nephew use him as!a slide!!! They climb on from the trailer and slid off his butt! He just stands there. No halter or anything U ntill he's done n will take one step away so they can't get on again😂😂😂)

Something I've noticed is that most saddles have a higher cantle, which help you move with the horse better and makes it easier. When riding bareback, you don't have that and have to move yourself with the horse more, and a low cantle help you get adjusted to that, since it is shaped more like the horses back. I've used saddles with very low cantles and ones with normal, high cantles, I prefer the higher cantle, but the lower one makes you move more, so if you're struggling to move with a horse bareback, try a saddle with a lower cantle if you have access to one.
@itsmejo24684 жыл бұрын
Ahh, this video is great and super informative, especially seeing you keep her balanced in the canter! I also love riding my horse bareback because you can feel everything and it forces you to balance. I am still working on not getting in the way of my horse's movement while cantering bareback :) P.S. I have the same riding pants and I love them !

While riding bareback I find if you warm up while your horse is warming up improves your balance. I find if you reach up to their mane and hold for a little, keeping your heels down, reaching back to their tail, and reaching for their shoulder on both sides help a lot. It’s challenging but does improve your balance.
