Just a little expansion about your tip on "life in the eyes." This is quite different when you are doing film or TV because there is basically no escape, I think is the best way to put it. What I mean by that is the camera literally picks up everything you do. So you have to remain focused on what your character is doing, thinking, feeling, etc. If you start having thoughts on what you are going to have to eat later, the camera will pick this up in your eyes. In theatre of course you have to remain focused too, however there is less pressure when it comes to this.

More good advice for acting: (Comment if you relate to this) If you want to master the acting skill you’ll need tons of practice. (Study’s show to master any skill you need about 10,000 hours of practicing.) Now most ppl look at the end goal and say “I wanna be tom hanks”, which is working for and ONLY for the end goal and That won’t last a long time you’ll end up dropping acting. Motivation is key to succeeding in anything and it’s what fuels you.( setting a goal is good for working towards but not to use for motivation) So how do we get long lasting motivation? You get it by loving the art of what ur doing so if u wanna be a basketball player u gotta love shooting the ball and u gotta love the grind. I’ve had so many times where I picked up a hobby and then just dropped it because the motivation left and I’m sure all of you had the same, so if you wanna change it love the art of acting and you gotta love the grind. Watch videos on acting, practice your speech, and try to build your all around game with loving to do it. Best of luck to all y’all 🤞 Thank you @theactorsacademy for all the great vids.

When choosing what type of actor I want to be it’s definitely the best in the world. Although my chances are incredibly low I don’t see much point in devoting your life to something and aspiring to be something just to be mediocre at it. I think that you should do everything you can to the fullest no matter what it is.

This is great advice. I really like the concepts around defining what type of actor you want to be. Too many actors are struggling with their own perception of where they think they should be because of comparison - like you mentioned. I myself have only this year defined what type of actor I am and it's glorious to feel comfortable and confident. Thanks for your content.

Look at your own thinking when you are relexed, stressed, happy, on medications, ruminating about something. Look at how every situation makes you feel and how others respond to those same situations in appearance. Looks, mannerisms, emotional reactions and the wording of peoples responses / questions can easily decieve. Character traits, preferences, interests, biases can easily make someone believe you are someone completely different from character to character. Look for tells, like voice changes, overacting, slow responses, flex face especially when questioning a person directly. It can be hard to get someone out of character once they are in it for a while. It might become automatic and easy for that person to the point they can even do it drinking and or medicated.

My biggest advice as a theater kid is : Believe in what you're saying, if you play romeo you aren't yourself anymore, you are a young italian man, from a rich family, who falls in love deeply with a girl from the rival family, you are torn between your love for her and your family duties. You are putting on a body suit of romeo. If you aren't becoming your character, it won't work. I remeber once playing Othello, i wasn't othello, the man going crazy bcuz he thinks his wife is cheating, i was just sayiong his words, like a copy, but no you have to FEEl your character, to live through theuir body. My performance of Othello was bad ans i knew it. It was because i didn't believe in what i was saying.

@Xades4 жыл бұрын
1. Research what you're about to get into 2. Start small. Act in front of families, friends and cousins. This will make you feel a lot more confident when you are performing with strangers. Do some monologues and duologues. 3 I assume your are in the start or second year of high school so start doing drama and see if you like it. 4. Do some acting classes. If you do these things, you will be ahead of your classmates in your future classes of acting. Drop the ego, don't think you are gonna be famous quick or you want the camera to see you only. Find a true honest reason why you wanna do acting. Also reply what your inspiration was.

@Benj4minGuy4 жыл бұрын
Start where you are now, join an acting class or maybe online and get trained, get as much experience as you can and you can apply for an acting school in LA and get a student visa, apply for CPT while you in your second year of the school and you can audition for a role and work or maybe you can make your own film to gain experience, and before you graduate, you can apply for OPT to stay one more year in the US and go find an agent and ask them to sponsor you o1 visa or you can try to apply for a green card if you are eligible. Remember to work smart and hard tho.
