This was so helpful! Been a stylist for 5 years now and still feel uneasy at times with new clients especially. Found your videos and love your advice!

What gives me self doubt would be knowing what to tone highlights with so they look natural and not brassy or yellow...... Also, how to ask the client if they want a shadow root and going lighter towards the ends. Verses the highlight showing at the root. Some times the client doesn't understand or cannot visual how this technique will look. I always try not to rinse out the toner too soon, because the toner didn't have enough time to process. I get nervous because im afraid the toner with grab too dark. How do i know when too rinse out the toner so it will not grab too dark.? thank you Lauren im watching every video and taking notes my binder is almost full ! You inspire me !

Sometimes you can’t know exactly what they want. But usually I find they are pretty happy when they don’t see any lines ever! Haha so I usually always do blending with color melting and That has never let me down! Definitely let the toner process the full time if you are worried! Use a lighter level and you can always add more pigment if needed later! ❤️

A lot of my self doubt is now coming from other stylists telling me I’m bad at what I do. That I should quit. That my colors aren’t good enough.
@LaurenFrancesHair3 жыл бұрын
Well that’s messed up. At that point I would work somewhere else. That is pretty awful

If they think they are so great they should help you. But more than likely they have no confidence themselves

@@LaurenFrancesHair they asked me to leave the salon but now they’re bashing me to clients and I had a client go to them after they left my chair a month ago happy. It’s a messed up situation and I wish I never even worked there

I’m not a stylist. I sell hair extensions and I like learning new things. I question myself a lot, just to make sure I’m going in the right direction (God assures me). I found this video very helpful. I am looking to expand my audience further to women with hair loss and start a high-end wig/topper brand. I’m always looking for wise advice. I really appreciate your attitude and your advice/tips, especially asking questions to hone in on your ideal client. I’ve got in contact with many women over the last week and I know everyone isn’t for me or that brand. So that was helpful. I would love to know how you let people know that you’re not going to take them as a client though. Do you refer them to other stylist? Do you say, “I can’t help you because of x reasons?” Or send a follow up email stating you can’t take them as a new client with no explanation? Thanks! I’ve subscribed!

Oh this is so cool! I feel like i would like wig making because I could just throw in headphones and zone out while I work 😂 usually I never have to turn people down, what I do is have them do a new client form. And I structure the questions in a way that explains what I do while also getting info from them. When I get their application I make a recommendation and they can either take me up on my advice or choose not to. Usually I let it be their choice. If they want something that I don’t offer I just let them know and yes I’ll have someone to refer them to!
