the one that that worked for me when it comes to creativity is JUST GET STARTED: just start what you are working on, take it one step at a time, once u are done with that bit take a moment, zone out for a bit while thinking about ur next move, take a look at it and see the different possibilities you can go about the next step and keep that flow going until you are done BONUS: another thing i do is listen to retro synthwave type beats with no lyrics, those types of music that play in movies when the character is in a deep work session i.e Tony Stark, these put your brain in a state of awareness

Start a journal in the morning again - I used to do it a while ago during the pandemic and it really helped me focus on the positive things during the day, setting positive intentions, as we know our thoughts shape our behaviours and our behaviours shape our habits, and then the habits create us:) Thank you, Jim, for reminding us on the small things in life that really can provoke change !

I discovered that most of the answers i have had to difficult questions come when I am not actually 'thinking' ! That points to the fact that calmness or rather the state of being 'present' is the most creative state for a human being.

I think in order to cultivate my creativity more I could think of rules I've learned when it comes to art, writing/journaling, or logic as a suggestion rather than a program. I'm an artist, and as an artist who used to watch art tutorials when I was younger, I've learned how to draw a nose, or eyes. But the proportions and shapes I have learned to draw are only one version of what I could be doing. So I could instead try to challenge those things I've learned. In terms of journaling, maybe instead of writing organized lists and calendars, I could add space in my journal to freely write about whatever's on my mind more often. When it comes to logic, I could try not to always go with my first answer. This video was really interesting, especially learning about how states of awareness affect learning and creativity

Thank you! Great confirmation about journaling. Writing gratitude journal first thing in the morning helps me to set positive intentions for the day as well as to transform negative subconscious thoughts that come up in my dreams. I will try asking positive, constructive questions before going to sleep for better dream experiences and avoiding smartphone for the first hour of the day to output ideas instead of inputting ideas. Also, take more walks & showers!

I could also get out and walk seeing the outsides and trying to view it with other perspectives. Before sleeping setting a question for a creativity problem and trying to dream with designs to then draw them in the morning.

my intention would be, to bite the bullet and tidy up and sort out my crafting space for more creativity BUT ironically it is the creative side of me that got the space in the mess it is in now. my goal is to reach my own potential and to embrace my talent and do something worthwhile with it. Thank you for the advice but, i have to say, i talk to myself in my head every night with intention and as yet i have not found the answers. i will not give up as i am very determined to conquer this. Thank you Jim. x

As long as you can find what you need within a minute or two, your crafting space is fine as it is. A creative space needs enough organization to be functional, but needs to please nobody else but you! :-)

I totally hear you Hazel. My crafting 'space' has virtually taken over my full flat. I agree with Barbara, she has worded that lovely. Unfortunately I seem to live in creative chaos! I recently spent a week organising my craft stuff and within 3 days it looked like I had been on a total crafting frenzy, and that is how it remains. Today my creativity seems to have mooched away, hence watching these tutorials. It was a year ago you posted your comment so you probably won't see this, but I hope you feel more organised ❤x

To be more creative I want to put less judgement or expectations on what creativity looks like, I have creative endeavors that I am interested in and sometimes I think I am hard on myself because I feel I am not fulfilling those specific endeavors. This causes me to think I am not creative in general even though there are plenty other things such as conversation, rock climbing, etc. where I am creative in my solutions. Creativity is limitless and has no name, no expectations, I need to just appreciate the fact that it is accessible regardless of what it looks like and at what quantity I am accessing it!

I was doing a hundred day discipline where I cut down most of social media, cafe, and all fast food and games. That period is about to end (91 days, which was successful). So I want to try out a new 100 days relaxing myself, cutting down almost all the negativities/anxieties I harbor, enjoying life, and just slowly loosen myself. The next 100 days I want to go creative mode, get in that theta wave, let go of all worries and free me of all the drudge I wasn’t able to get rid of the past 100 days. I realized that I was a “problem-solving” oriented guy. I work best when there’s a specific mission and objective answers. Which sort of shook me because my goal was always of a creative type. So the next hundred days I’m going to let all that analytic “destroy the problem” side of me go, and just relax, chill, do not worry too much, and allow my naturally creative side to take root. Let what is, is, give my soul some well needed rest, take walks, and retake up that dream log. And most of all, I will stop judging my artworks. I’m just gonna regress back to my childhood when it comes to making stuff up and just doing things for it’s own sake. This should be fun. Thank you for the inspiration.

I think one way to become more creative is to force yourself into uncomfortable situations. Within reason of course. If you spend too much time in what you're comfortable with then you're limiting your brain to what you may already know, try new practices, talk to new people, perhaps even have a healthy amount of solitude and step away from the world you're so used to so frequently and just sit with your thoughts, let them wander, see where they take you and what new perspectives you gain from further reflection on the circumstances, people, and situations around you.
