Actually, the military issued her flats ugly tie ups, pretty much what the men were issued for dress uniform. She could choose to wear heels on her own dime. But those shoes had to meet reg. While I was in during the 90s, the rules were similar. It was even the same with my combat boots. We were issued a base pair. We could opt for better ones (there were uniform stores on most bases). You could buy better. Same with headgear. Depending on your job, you had options, but beyond the basic issued, it was on your dime.

I don't understand the logic behind the rule about soldiers, policemen, firefighters, gym professors.... wearing up to 3 inches of heels. When they wear uniform they should be ready to do their job. Their job isn't looking good. Fighting in high heels? Saving people in high heel? It makes no sense. P.D: Science (doctors) says that wearing anything above 5 cm is not good for women's health. It deforms feet and it creates pain in women's reproductive system.

@@enibeni2071 For military your service dress is not normally worn for your actual job unless you work in an office setting, and even then most of the heels I see worn are 2" and under. A 1.5 inch heel is lower than even most men's cowboy and riding boots. For women who have really large feet, a 3 inch heel is fairly easy to walk in all day. They didn't, and don't, ask that you wear heels with your actual working uniform be it the old school fatigues or newer acp/ocps.

@FlyingMonkies325 I never wore actual heels with my blues. The US Air Force reg only has a heel maximum, and no minimum, so flats it was for me until I found a nice pair of oxfords that weren't plastic ones they issue you. Women were actually issued fatigues for their actual job here in the US, especially if you had to do work in a MASH unit. The US had women piloting, mechanic-ing, and nursing since the 40s (see: the WASPS, women air force service pilots). Even the marines had women doing work in fatigues at the time, Bea Arthur from the golden girls wore them as a truck driver and dispatcher at the tail end of WWII. How often you wear your service uniform depends on your actual job here. I was a jet engine mechanic and I only wore them once or twice a year when someone was either getting an award or when someone fucked up so bad the entire unit had a blues inspection. The ladies in the finance office had to wear them every monday - and only 2 or 3 of them actually wore heels, the rest wore flats or oxfords.

In reality, as a woman this doesn't look too bad, they let women wear makeup, (an appropriate amount) and they encourage them to take care of themselves while being modest and hard working. v

I can just see some feminist being upset about language or certain suggestions in this video, an the whole time failing to notice, realize and acknowledge that women have been in the military long before they were even born.
@veryberry39

I'm not sure what the point you're trying to make is. And I'm not just saying that to be a smartass. Just because women have been in the military for a long time doesn't mean dictating the rest of it is okay. The two aren't mutually exclusive. Now on one hand, I'd say that yes, men also have a dress/grooming code to follow, but they're not told they have to wear high heels, either. What's wrong with boots for everyone?

@@veryberry39 For that matter, I'm not sure what they were trying to say with "feminist being upset about language while failing to understand military service." It's usually not feminists who have a problem understanding history or historical context, since feminism requires understanding social sciences

Ye Gawds forbid someone not fit...a half century old military uniform video. Do the one half inch or two inch plain black leather pumps fit your personality and individuality better? It's bizarre how people will claim they support individuality and freedom until someone freely expresses their individuality.
