Hey Peter! Thank you for your content and for sharing your strategy and knowledge about Tekken. I am a competitive fencing coach and you wouldn't believe how many things translate directly over from Tekken in terms of strategy, movement, timing patience and mixup. I really liked the comment about using movement as an option for frame advantage rather than it being "press a button vs don't press a button". Super excited for your future videos, hope all is well.

For a pure beginner, sure. However, I've broken it down into just the d+3,4 into RFS which is way way more manageable in my opinion. I haven't even talked about how he can transition from LFS or any of the jab strings yet.

Nice job on the Vid Peter! I would like to add this additional info as well: I don't know if anyone has brought this up but there is a tech trap off of d+3,4 due to the +14 on hit can go into 2, b+4 or 1,b+4. Which this happening out in the open or at the wall can be a death sentence if you're not prepared for the attack. The attack is a high, high Besides that this will wall splat and if you're not actively holding back while this is going down you will be hit fully I want to say altogether it's meaty dmg like 50-56 if all of it connects and if not I want to say it jails but I haven't had enough time to test this. Thought I should share this

I main Hwoarang, and I'm pretty sure it does. The way I remember it now is this: 4 4 goes into RFS, and 4 F+4 goes into RFF, and you can do 4 4 3 if they like to duck after the 4 4. 4 4 4, 4 4 F+4, and 4 4 4 3 are the same but only the first two hits jail, or natural combo, so these are more dangerous. I will double check later though just for my sanity.

What do you think about the common strategy of dickjabbing right after the d3,4 to avoid HWO’s jab? I mean, you can get hit by a mid, but considering how much HWO players love that jab to keep you in the loop..
@PeterYMao
@PeterYMao 3 жыл бұрын
The question you have to ask yourself is, "is it worth getting away from a jab that's +5 on block" or "eating a CH launcher." RFS d/f+4, RFS u/f+4, RFS b+3 will all CH launch you if you try to dick jab after d+3,4. On the other side if you get hit by RFS 1, or RFS b+4 then Hwoarang will be at +9 or +14 depending on which move hit you. Both of which are worse situations to be in than him being at +5. These are the things to consider. However, playing to what your opponent does is the most important. If your opponent ONLY does jab after d+3,4 then by all means dickjab away, but if your opponent varies his options after d+3,4 then dickjab is actually one of the worst options you can possibly do.

It's hilarious to me that everybody calls RFS b+4 "flappy kicks". I think d+3,4 can also be stepped to the right, though maybe that's only if your out of range of the 3 in the first place. It's funny to me that even K-Wiss, a Hwoarang main, feels that RFS b+3 needs to be more than -10. The "good" thing about RFS is that most of the Hwoarangs I run into go for b+3 or the armor move out of it so they give up their turn, but I'll admit I get hit by said armor move way, way too often.
@PeterYMao
@PeterYMao 3 жыл бұрын
yeah the b+3 from RFS should be -12 at least. It's so good for a launcher.
@ICEMAN-Z8
@ICEMAN-Z8 3 жыл бұрын
K wiss is much over rated and hes not nearly among the best Hwoarang’s out there, trust me on this bcoz I myself been playing Hwoarang since tekken 3, so don’t take k wiss’ ideas as a gospel. Hwo is a strong character and can mix u up easily with his pressure but there is a reason hes not top tier, it gets really hard to win with him in high level tekken.

@PeterYMao
@PeterYMao 3 жыл бұрын
10 strings usually aren't used, but it's good to at least know where the low attacks in the strings are. You never know when your opponent might rip one out. As you say, this is something you now know and with that knowledge have another layer to the understanding of Tekken :)

@@PeterYMao i'm sorry it puts hwo back to neutral, then he is counter attack baiting directly afterwards, backdash sidestep is the way to go because it's so many different options out of RF (LF) has more. but there is a couple more (forward 1 (which you included) but forward 1, 2 is the option select which leads up to the infamous 10 hit lol, which I stop to detect a duck.... I should pick up another character, I've been playing him since Tekken 3 when he came out, but I learned that if his movement isn't' good hwo is weak against taking pressure, (lack of lows and 13f or less moves that don't require space.)

Saying and doing in training is easy. It's hard in combat. This character is one of the cheat characters in this game. His attacks seem to be very flexible and overly stylish. And at the same time, he can continue his combinations of attacks as he likes, interrupting his previous combination in a matter of seconds. I have this character in 2 categories: 1) easy to control 2) with very strong attacks that in real life will be very weak. It's a pity that Tekken developers know how to make normal fighters through mysticism in the game. At a time when Mortal Kombat found their chip and make a lot of money on it despite the meat grinder. Ask why? because they don't downplay some of their characters in terms of power and combos. Since they make an ordinary fighter strong and thoughtful, let others be strong and thoughtful. It is not surprising that Mortal Kombat is many times more popular.
