You know the first time I played pointless, the joy mutant got Alex all brain damaged and I couldn’t cure it so I had less sp then needed for minor iris so I just thought that was some big thing reserved for the next chapter. But nah.

You weren't missing out on much (at least with a Brain Damaged Alex), although I gotta give you some credit for playing with Brain Damage on your first playthrough! I remember the first time Chaz gave Alex/Joel Brain Damage (I don't remember which one got it at the time) I just reloaded to a previous save since I didn't think I'd be able to beat the game with the reduced SP. Honestly that was part of the reason why I wanted to do this run - to see if it was possible.

Funnily enough there IS a technique called the Major Iris Alex gets at level 12, which requires you to beat every fight in the game that grants XP to get. So there’s nothing to use it on, since it’s probably for chapter 2.

That's pretty neat! I recall seeing comments from other videos of people saying they did something similar. Part of the reason I wanted to mod the game was so that I could see what the run would look like pre-Chaz, since I was curious on how Garbage Island would play out with Brain Damage.

@Firek I did have multi-trauma runs as a potential idea for the future, so that could happen! Granted it'll be quite a while before I do those (and that's assuming I decide to go through with that idea). It's hard for me to judge right now whether Broken Bones + Heart Attack could work as I haven't done either of the standalone runs for those yet.

Short answer: Yes, I was dumb and ended up doing that on my playthrough. Long answer: Congrats on beatinng this run. Honestly, the game is quite punishing as it is, so having that extra edge against you really forces you to master the damn game if you're to win this thing. Pointless is one of my favorite games, being on the more wholesome end of the LISA spectrum.

Fun fact goat headbutt has a much higher chance to give stun if the target has the dangerous status effect. That's why you managed to stun chaz before he bit Joel or Alex. Loved the video and can't wait to see a different challenge

I’m gonna call it now and say that rupture is going to be impossible, in garbage island once you have access to rotten fruit I think you’ll be okay, but before that will be hell from that green dude wearing a couple trash bags and you would still have the Roland fight to worry about. the burning desert segment would certainly cost a ton resources keeping one of your guys alive, all mandatory fights in downtown are pretty difficult (mostly not talking bout the dude with the knife and not Arnold cause you can skip), and last autumn… I think would be relatively fine because of all the berries and the bottles of soup. Edit: can’t wait for heart attack challenge though, the amount of times you’ll be nearly one shot by basic attacks will be hilarious.

Those are some good points about the future Rupture run, it's all the more reason why I wanna save it for last since I have to make sure my routing for it leaves me with as much HP as possible. That said while I see difficulty in that run beating every major enemy/boss (the ones I listed at the start of this video), mostly due to using up more healing resources. I would at least like to beat Arnold if I can help it though, Chaz would be nice too although that's a solid maybe, especially since I'll be playing on my patched version where he can actually attack normally after turn 2. Even if it ends up being impossible though, I'm hoping it'll still be a pretty interesting video when it comes out! Also yeah the Heart Attack run will be interesting, I'm sure there will be at least one encounter where the speed debuff will cause an enemy who you normally outspeed to now attack first in a fight. I can't think of any possible examples now though, since I don't really have any AGI stats memorized

@@TimeRegime oh yeah I forgot about your rule set, yeah the rupture will be harder then I thought! Though don’t get me wrong, even if I think it will be impossible I can’t wait for it. All the creative things you’ll think of to try and pass the challenge will be great to see. For the agility problem from heart attack (I genuinely forgot it decreased speed) a fight that comes to mind is anaconda, that oil will be hard to get off and stunning will be hard because he decreases your sp by 40 at the start of the fight. Vinny and Lin cause I don’t think you can out speed lin in the fight so you’ll get hit pretty hard and with a chance to be stunned. Though a benefit of the lower speed is that you can taunt+roll a lot easier then you can in game. Edit: also broken bones decrease your physical attack by 70% and I think most of Alex’s moves use physical attack so it’s possible that run would be VERY long.

@@itstheblandman8734 Actually I'll have to see what happens with Rupture's rule set because of how I'll have to approach the game. Currently I was thinking of making most of the "required enemies" I'd want to kill in other runs optional for that specific run (albeit I'd like to try and fight at least some of them if I can help it). I would like to make at least Arnold a hard requirement for it though, mostly because I personally feel it'd be pretty lame to do a challenge run and not beat what is effectively the game's final boss. Also you're right about Broken Bones (actually the status decreases both ATK and DEF by 70%, so it makes you pretty squishy too), my plan was to just unlock Minor Iris and use that for the most part with Alex, since its damage relies on S.ATK instead.

For now I can tell you that I'm looking to complete LISA: The Pointless with each of the game's traumas (as well as with Third Degree Burns from Scholar of the Wilbur Sin), although I'm sure I'll do some other LISA challenge videos in the future too.

@ensignmarker 312 First of all, thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. To answer your question, currently I'm in the process of getting the next trauma challenge run for Pointless done. After that I do plan on eventually doing a run with each of the traumas that didn't win from the poll I had on this video earlier. I have been thinking though that I might do a different type of challenge run in between this "Pointless with X Trauma" series I'm doing (probably after the next challenge video), just to add in a bit more upload variety. I'm still toying with my own ideas/suggestions I've received and I think there's a good chance I might try a different LISA game for it as well. If you're specifically looking for those other runs in Pointless, then I'm definitely considering doing them at some point after the traumas. (Probably in SotWS, although depending on the challenge I could see myself wanting to do vanilla Pointless instead.)

@@szkieleton I appreciate the suggestions, although being completely honest with you, I can't really say that I can add those things in. Personally speaking here, I feel adding Text to Speech would make these videos feel much more cheap, and in turn ruin some of the artistic integrity that goes into making these. A lot of the time Text to Speech tends to be used in memes/jokes, and I feel that would really clash with the tone I want to establish as the viewer watches the video. As for voice overs, I highly doubt I'll ever do those. Personally I'm not a big fan of how my voice sounds, but even ignoring that, the amount of time and energy that would go into doing voice overs for these just isn't worth it. Personally, I find them just really draining to do, it can feel really demotivating having to record the same lines over and over just to get a good enough take. That, and it would make my already slow upload schedule even worse if I had to spend time making and adding in voice clips to a video. (Honestly, I can't even say that this video would have been uploaded yet if I had to make voice overs for it.) I'm sorry if this comes as a disappointment at all, but I'd rather be honest and tell you why I can't add these things in. Again, I still appreciate the suggestions, and I'll still keep in mind things I can do to improve the next challenge run I upload. I am hoping to increase how long text will stay on screen, as well as to reduce the amount of words overall so that there won't be as many blocks of text on screen anymore.

Those are some interesting ideas! A solo Alex run could be pretty interesting. I like the item-damage-only run idea too, although off the top of my head I only recall Empty Bottles & Dirty Water being the only damaging items in the game, and I’m unsure whether Roland could be killed just using those (assuming Joel always throws them for optimal damage). I’d be willing to give that run a shot someday though

Not to cut you down on your efforts but you could have killed that rando dude at the begging with the bombs you if you do flying axe kick with alex while having Joel throw a bottle at him,then have alex attack a t random and have Joel throw another bottle and last but throw a bottle with both charecters and you’ll win and get 1,000 exp. BTW you need alex to get bleed on him with the axe kick at the beginning
