Same here. Great video! I've been able to i-frame through his roars but it's driving me crazy since I can't do it consistently. Now I know his tell. Thanks man!

Does anyone happen to know how many frames are in a roll for MH Rise? The Topic Hole: You said the i-frames begin right at the beginning of the roll? Does that equate to B-button input exactly when Mizu's roar starts? And is there a function of distance away from him that can change that? Needless to say there's an AOE around him during the roar... but Capcom can't be that mean, can they? I don't know why this is bugging me so much, but come hell or high-water, I am determined to i-frame thru every bleepetty bleepin' roar... 😈

@@nealling You've got this man, It just takes a little practice. Good thing is all the roars in the demo can be dodged if you know what to do. So your I frames start when you start the roll animation. So once you press b and start the dodge you can't be touched for a few frames (I haven't counted the frames yet but I'll do that soon) Watch the roar in this video again and look at how the water moves when he roars. See how the water ripples away from Mizutsune? That's what I meant by it's a wave. There are 2 things that might help you out. 1. Roll towards Mizu or away from him. If you roll perpendicular to the wave you'll have the best chance of getting through it. 2. Look for the tells that I talked about. It's neck and left foot are the signs that I like to use. If you dodge right as the left starts to move towards the ground or just as it's neck jets out you'll be able to dodge it. As far as distance goes it is a factor but it shouldn't matter very much since the roar hit box is really fast. Does that help at all?

For the water shot while sliding I've found that if you simply move towards the side that Mizu will be sliding from towards you at the beginning of his animation you can get to the other side of the beam without even dodging. This is because for the first few seconds the beam actually goes into the ground and up again and it is very easy to dodge through if not just walk past it. For the tail whip too I've found that you can walk towards Mizu and easily walk under it's belly while it's still winding up the tail whip. And the claw slam has two ways to dodge, either under the claw out of Mizu's "circle" ( the shape of it's body as its winding up the attack) or in towards the center of the "circle" where the claw will just completely miss you. Choose either or depending on you positioning when it does the attack, but running inwards doesn't require timing the i-frames so i prefer it when possible.

Got Rise on PC recently and Mizu felt like a huge difficulty spike compared to how easy the rest of low and high rank was. I was looking for a video to just show me some tips and different tells and this was perfect. Thanks!

I guess for myself, the trouble I have is with a few of Mizu's attack boxes, like the body slam into a slow turn around... I've closed in after the body slam, not realizing that the slow turn has an attack box in the tail (it's pretty slow🤷🏻♂️). And since you seem like a technical dude (and I haven't seen Arekkz or Gaijin cover this), I'd be interested in the duration of I-Frames and "counter frames" of all weapon moves. For example: the Hammer's purple into yellow charge transition feels like it has roughly the I-Frames of a normal evade, but the Hunting Horn's Perform move has much more substantial I-Frames to it.
