I started my channel in 2022 and did it for 6 month and then stopped for almost a year and started back this past September and I have been watching your videos since 2022 and doing my best implementing your advice and it has worked. I have a gaming channel and I have changed the theme of the game 4 times trying to find that I can actually enjoy long term and it took a year and a half to do that. I went from Hunt showdown to Star Wars Battlefront 2 to Battlefield 2048 then No Mans Sky and now Formula 1 sim racing which is my true enjoyment and passion and I am also good at it.

Wish you the best but maybe do some other type of games as well. That can also be in the car racing category but it seems like you dont get traction for your content. First people need to find you until they can enjoy your content. So go a little bit with the hype games just to get some new viewers and followers :)

Quick question Marcus! After you trimmed your video, did you experience a dip in views initially before the views took off? I had a video that had been up for 5 days and had gotten about 2,000 views - but the retention was low, there was one point in the video that seemed to turn viewers off. I trimmed the offending clip out of the video but then my views dropped from about 20 - 30 views an hour down to 1 or 2 views an hour! Most views (over 90%) were coming from the KZbin home page before. If you trim the video and push a new version out, does that mean the algorithm "resets" the video to Day 1, as if it just got published? I'm worried that by trying to fix my retention, I've actually messed up my views.

pop filters are meant to stop the plosives peaking the mic, the reason why the mic has echo is due to the acoustics in the room. educate yourself

He records in a room full of reverb and with a condenser mic, a terrible combo.

Also an error thar many KZbinrs make is buying the wrong mic. A GOOD Mic but the wrong one. I do have that mic, AND 8 others. And on my last two purchases I bough the "right mics". Condenser mics like the ones he's using are meant to be used in sound treated rooms, dynamic mics are meant to be used in places where there's all kinds of noise around you that should not reach the mic (like the echo and reverb in a room). If you are not recording vocals for a song or some kind of sfx, do yourself a favor and buy dynamic mics not condenser mics.

@@RC29972 Hey no worries that's actually a great question! Kind of complicated answer but I'll try my best. I think you have to use some discretion where to use this tactic or not. If there is a severe dip then cutting out a whole section might be worth it. However, if it interrupts with the storytelling and cutting it would ruin the flow of the video then it is probably not worth it IMO. If you can cut a small part of the dip and not have it effect the flow of the video or that particular section then it is likely worth it. As I've started doing this I've also become more mindful in my editing, meaning crafting content that could be easier to trim later if necessary. Hope that is helpful☺

I have a question. If we are going to cut out our videos to make it even shorter, why don't we just making shorter videos at the first place? Wouldn't that make it even easier to maximize the average view duration as much as possible? 🤷‍♀

@@gracesudofia True but my point is if it cutable and if you think removing that part won't affect the video's context then definitely cut that out and make the video even shorter at the first place. That way we don't have to cut it out afterward and make things harder for ourselves. Not #shorts . 🤷‍♀

This even works with music, following these steps I've learned what retains people's interest and my videos have gone from 3 views to 60 views practically overnight.
