I’ve never seen Slither the whole way through, still haven’t. It grossed me out. And the image of the Bar Wench turned into a living nest and exploding was seared into my brain when I was a kid. They did have a hivemind like nature to them. So the shock of the main brain dying could have shut down the brains of the drone slugs causing instant colony death. As long as seperate colonies of this species aren't hostile towards eachother and the main host can create a new host slug in a reasonable amount of time that flaw would be overcome as long as the only main brain wasn't killed before the new host slug was made

Fun and Giggles but this thing was a legit earth-ending infestator, pretty much near Halo's Flood levels. If it wasn't reliant on a single command form to control the entire invasion, it could have screwed the entire planet, as each combat form is able to infect other hosts and create more combat or carrier forms. At the very end...it was making a Proto-Gravemind, and on top of that, each worm was able to extract knowledge of their hosts to even mimic behaviour. Those things could have become smarter to keep the humanoid form pure and use weaponry and tech...in a few days the entire world would have fallen and earth would need glassing by CAS-class super carriers

They also produce airborne spores which can be breathed in and cause infection just as easily.

This was my favorite movie as a teen. My mom is scared enough of bugs that we would be on an unplanned trip to grandma's before we saw 5. Edit: I think Grant's personally merged with the slug thing. Even once he is fully mutated he still didn't immediately kill her after she tried to kill him. If I was her I'd honestly try to make up with him. Sorry guys but being queen sounds kinda fun.

Theory: The reason all the bug zombies died as soon as Grant thing did was because it wasn't the head honcho. Maybe back on the aliens' home planet, there's a freaking enormous flesh monster bug thing that functions as the "queen" of the aliens, like ant queens. What enforces this theory for me is the fact that young ant queens leave their birth anthill to start hill of their own. Maybe these aliens are like that, but instead of these new "queens" leaving to start their own colonies, they continue serving the one mega-queen who is back at the home planet. I'll bet there are many more planets in the Slither universe that were colonized by these aliens and each with their own "queen". Grant thing's minions died because there were plenty more where they came from on different planets and Grant thing was as expendable since there were probably plenty more where he came from as well.

They go into a sort of analysis of how the big bad controls its minions very well. Could be similar to here. If u didnt, i really recommend watching it.
