Just a quick nitpick. The interviewer was told there was only 200 floors in the facility which is why she unalived herself on her second month. She couldn’t live the knowledge that she was sending people to this place aswell as struggling with the loss of her dog. Looking down from 202 really puts into perspective how doomed the people on the lower floors were
@alleskunst5747Ай бұрын
Plus she was under the assumption, that the food would last these 200 levels, feeding 400 people. It’s not super clear from the movie but as far as I‘ve understood it they don’t put everybody’s favorite food every day onto the platform. Meaning the lower levels are doomed anyway even if everybody would just eat their fair share. Or maybe they do it but the platform is so small it never fits food for 666 people! This movie is just such a fcked up concept and literally asks the participants to resort to cannibalism… and what for? What type of re-socializing is that

It is that way only when people are kept away from each other, in real life this prison would be united because they see each others struggle and have no one else to talk to than their neighbors. They would make songs, pass on messages, plan to escape together, since people become incredibly close under hard circumstances. The reason why the rich in real world don't care about poor people, is that they won't even meet, so a closed system like a prison is a very bad analogy. Another problem is that people can go without food for very long and the less they eat, the less hungry they feel. For instance, those who have anorexia barely eat anything for years, sometimes 10+ years, and while it is unhealthy, it doesn't kill you in a few months.
@Butterkin27 күн бұрын
@@simoneriksson9212 You clearly missed the message from the man in the wheel chair. In order for everyone to survive, the obese prisoners cannot be allowed to eat at all and the women need to eat about 400-600 calories less than the men, since women don't need as many calories to survive as men do. Not only does everyone need to eat in a caloric deficit, there needs to be a threat of violence that appears insurmountable. So 4 fit healthy and combat capable prisoners should ride the platform down every single day to make sure that only rations are handed out and that obese prisoners get no rations until they are no longer obese. Everyone goes on a diet, the clue is that it's called a vertical self management center. Due to the variables of the thought experiment, the most fair and just outcome is exactly as I just described. The solution that the woman with the dog came up with in trying to persuade everyone to self manage sounds to me like the democratic solution, whereas forming a ration enforcement team is equivalent to a totalitarian solution. If anything in this specific scenario, the totalitarian solution is best because basic animalistic human urges are explicitly leveraged due to the way the "vertical self management center" is designed. The only time a democratic solution would be better is if there was no platform and everyone had to live in the same auditorium sized prison cell and the feast was lowered only to the auditorium. Quickly a government of some kind would be formed after a war or two or three and then it would become easy to vote on how to ration the food for the survivors.

While Kuru, or Prions Disease, does come from eating human meat, it's a much lower risk of eating flesh, as the main source of those prions is in the brain matter. With luck, the levels above will be too focussed on the un-canned food to waste time trying to crack it. And logically, the lower the platform goes, the weaker the inmates will be (around 2 weeks after rotation) again reducing the chance for them to be strong enough to crack it. But this is something a smart person would do, and a smart person would just work for their diploma or other thing!

This movie separates viewers into two groups, goal oriented and process oriented. The goal oriented people (and I'm just speculating here) are watching the horror show with the idea that the ending will clarify and resolve all the questions. There are many questions. But that doesn't happen, and they are either not happy about it or maybe enjoy the surprise. The process oriented people (the journey is the destination) are along for the ride, soaking up all the bizarre shapes humanity comes in. This movie (I loved it, saw it twice) is quite a ride, and you really never know where it will go. The viewer is in no danger so finds the twists and mutilations quite entertaining. This group liked the movie. See also The Lobster and The Favourite by Yorgos Lanthimos

Kuru (the prion disease) is usually contracted when eating stuff like the brain/organ meats, and I think eye balls and things. They found that among certain cannabilistic people that women were far more likely to get kuru since they held less standing and would be given the lesser parts of the body that weren't favored as much. Muscle tissue I believe is relatively safe to eat.

Someone maybe can explain why the platform can fly? This is something i wonder all the time. And another question, maybe i missed it bcs i fell asleep while the movie, but when the mother is riding the platform why didn't she find her kid on the last floor when it's there all the time? And thank you for the summary :3
@xelith6157Ай бұрын
1. The platform flying is physically impossible and the movie didn't explain it. No one knows how it works, it just does for the sake of the plot 2. About the ending, the director said this: "To me, that lowest level doesn't exist. Goreng is dead before he arrives, and that's just his interpretation of what he felt he had to do" However, he also notes "I'll leave what happens to your imagination." In short, we don't know, but the most widespread interpretation is that the main character imagined the girl as he was dying and she didn't actually exist.
