A stupid photographer gets killed in the beginning of the movie. Then one of the 2 happens 1- Someone from his family or his wife comes searching for him in the desert, gets captured and fights for her life. 2- A group of youngsters decides to have a tour in that place, looking for an adventure. Then one by one they get killed until there's only a brave girl (who have had a bad relationship with her boyfriend, one of the first victims or the last one, in his act of redemption), who then fights to die in the lest scene of the movie or just frees herself, living a life of hatred and wishing for revenge. Am I missing something?

As far as I am aware, you cannot get in any sort of trouble if you refuse to help someone, but could potentially if you start helping and then leave them without cause. If he said no and went to his car and left, even if he didn't call the cops I'm pretty sure he would be legally in the clear because you cannot penalize people for prioritizing their own safety over someone else's. It's like a bystander law or something. I don't know the specifics but I am fairly certain that you can choose to ignore people needing help because you can't be given legal consequences for putting your own safety first.

I’m assuming this is a backcountry trail due to the lack of other people and trail signs or trail markers. He also came super underprepared. Even if it was as simple of a trail as it seems, it’s still the Utah desert. He needed a map and compass, extra water, a thermal blanket, extra food, something warmer to wear and an emergency kit just in case he got hurt or stranded and was there overnight. Ideally anyone going hiking should have an emergency beacon no matter how experienced you are or how busy the trail area is. It might seem like way too much for a quick hike but so many people have died on quick hikes and many might have lived if they’d brought the right gear with extra food and water with them.

Hell, I'm on a farm and just walking down to my dam is probably more dangerous than most hiking trails. Don't get me wrong, rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it BUT let's be realistic, the odds are tiny that you're going to have some catastrophe.

Hey 👋 I enjoy your episodes of “How to beat” series. This movie is actually a decent horror flick. What surprised me about the main character named “Stone” is that how unprepared he was for this hiking adventure. It seems like he was just taking a quick walk at the local park or something 🤣 especially considering the way he was dressed and the amount of water he took with him. You would think he would take more supplies with him at the beginning of the film. Basically he makes lots of bad decisions in the movie that are just very dumb.

so it would have been a mistake to try to send smoke signals or SOS. First, what we see in the movie is a passenger plan, googling a passenger plane's cruising altitude shows us it can be as low as 15000 feet to 42000 feet depending on whether or not it is a smaller aircraft or larger one. Either way the captors are going to notice the smoke signals long before an aircraft will (assuming they will see it in the first place) and will act accordingly before any help can arrive which at best would be hours at worst days. This is bad. S.O.S will not work because they are in a canyon, there is only a brief window in which enough sunlight will shine on the signal before it is shrouded in shadow and that is assuming the canyon has enough space to make a large enough SOS signal but even then, the captors will see long before any planes will. The absolute best thing he can do for himself is analyze his situation, he has food, shelter, medical care, and he isn't being relentlessly tortured. He even has sex. Captors react to prisoners. If he played the long game properly and showed them that he is submissive, that he'd given up and is broken, and that he is content now to idle away his days with mindless work and sex. He even should have done a better job at befriending the woman, getting cozy with her and being gentle. Feign an emotional connection. His captors would more than likely relaxed their watches and lower their guard. I have no doubt that the whole reason why the boys even came down that canyon to mess with him was to break him. While playing the part of the submissive man, he should have looked for a place where he could have hid within the cavern, hid there, and when they are unable to find him, they would assume he managed to escape, that is when he could kill the psycho lady, and while they are searching for him above, then scale the wall and actively hunt them down. Its high risk with a low success rate but its better that what he had been doing in the movie getting temperamental at everything
