Having just moved to college, being sleep deprived and just woken up from the phone call, I was incredibly distressed. This would have been a much more interesting premise if it were a revenge film from Mr. Lee's perspective. A completely normal guy loses everything to some asshole teenagers who suffer no repercussions because it was "just a prank", and constructs an elaborate plan for revenge. Of course then, Mr. Lee wouldn't have the advantage of being a villain in a shitty horror film, and so wouldn't have his powers of offscreen teleportation, clairvoyance, ninja powers, a mask that somehow doesn't restrict his peripheral vision, and the ability to make TVs turn on by themselves.

Jackie Chan's The Foreigner is sorta like that concept. A good man, whom he loses his daughter to some terrorists, with the police not really doing anything to bring justice to what happened, so he takes matters into his own hands. A little over the top in some aspects, and also odd seeing Jackie in this role (esp. if you're used to his more charismatic/goofy self), but not a bad movie by any means.

totally agree and also why I much prefer Nerd Explains' content to Cinema Summary's. It feels a lot more realistic and helps you see the characters' perspectives easier. While I think Cinema Summary is fun and somewhat educational, I don't think their content is realistic enough with the assumption that an average person would know everything they've researched for the videos.

it actually gets a lot deeper than that,its not just severe situations where people are taken by emotions but every single moment too, you would be amazed at how people manipulate eachother and what knowledge they have about the human brain what i'm trying to say is that to some specific people others are just animals that can be bypassed and have their codes manipulated,their emotions changed as easy as snapping your fingers and that you could be played at any moment even if it doesn't feel like it

Have you seen “Follow Me”/“No Escape”? I think either this KZbin did a video on it or channel with a similar movie summary style of videos. SPOILERS: It was about extreme escape rooms and it was this one popular d-bag youtuber’s birthday so his friends took him to the most exclusive escape room in the world, and the people running it set it up just for him. They get drugged and wake up in some near Saw-level traps and stage super real scenes of the bad guys killing the d-bag KZbinr’s friends, and he sneaks around and gets to their lil HQ and finally in the end he follows the main bad guy that drugged them in the first place into this big dark room with a spotlight on the bad guy. The D-bag KZbinr just saw his girlfriend murdered, and when he gets to the main bad guy, he confronts him with the gun and they chat for a sec with the guy trying to congratulate him but he’s been put through such trauma he truly believes he just watched all his friends die so he shoots the bad guy, and at that moment, the lights all turn on and everyone’s like “SURPRISE!!” right before being all “oh my god why’d you do that?!?!” And it turns out all his friends wanted to f with him for being such a d-bag, so they had this super elaborate “foreign guy is going to sell their bodies” or something, and they all faked their deaths with super elaborate and gruesome scenes. He was originally tasked with getting them out of the traps and had to cut open a dead body for the key for one of them and when he saw the traps was when the friend group began to realize it wasn’t a prank, so in the end after they all died trying to escape, they all come out and it’s like “naaah man my head wasn’t chopped off after my fingernails were ripped one by one!” “Pshht that was fake electricity even though it shocked you when you tried to save me, loser!” It all ended after their “surprise!!!” And seeing that he had just killed the guy orchestrating it. After all that, they realize what he just did and they all start screaming and crying. Idk if the dude even faces charges as he was clearly in a distressed state of mind and had no way to know they weren’t actually all just brutally murdered until it was too late. It was wild

Wouldn't the prankers' actions constitute manslaughter? I mean there were 2 deaths and they literally post their pranks online. If the father discovered and connected the dots to who caused their deaths why couldn't the police? They would absolutely be in jail. It'd be somewhat interesting however if the movie was about a prison break in to kill some prisoners as personal revenge. The movie we got was honestly very predictable but hey bonus points for seeing shithead prankers get a taste of their own medicine even if it is a bit extreme.

Mr. Lee is getting a kick on his front door not too many days after the end of this movie. He's done as soon as Sam points the finger at him.
@brianlowe9043 жыл бұрын
The implication of the movie is that of a tech savvy, patient, calculating man who could theoretically wipe footage and what not. Even if they find the man pointing the finger isnt damning evidence, oh you’ve been pranked by them? So doesn’t mean he created a revenge movie for it.
@theazureknight93993 жыл бұрын
@@brianlowe904 They really don't need any footage. Let me go through a few things that can easily get Mr. Lee busted. 1. The police will quickly figure out that Sam is way too stupid to have pulled off all those killings. He also most likely has an alibi for the time Brady's parents were murdered. 2. Mr. Kolbein has a clear motive, no strong alibi and an active facebook page with his dead daughter's name full of stalker pics of the pranksters. This would quickly make him one of the prime suspects of the investigation. 3. He wouldn't have enough time to wipe all the traces of his presence in the house, or in the neighborhood, in that short amount of time. Forensics nowadays is no joke. @@thelemurofmadagascar9183 You make a valid point but I would like to point out that I said it would be harder to drive off, not impossible. Effectively... This entire episode is a great reminder on why gun safety is important, and situational awareness saves lives. Unless you can hear or see police and someone tells you there's a home invader inside of your house, assume you do not have help. If you have a firearm and people to protect, do not recklessly brandish or fire your weapon. On a related note, security systems are BAE. A security camera at the front or backdoor could also have potentially stopped the premise of the movie. How? Check to see if you have alerts for motion at your front or back door. With phone apps, it shouldn't take more than a minute or two, and as she was was woken up and had the time to block her door, she could check the security camera footage quickly.

Not only do they use common tactics like ambushing or trying to flank you during a shoot-out, but they can also dip their bullets with their bodily fluids (since getting in contact with them is how you get infected in this universe) and shoot you in the leg during a fight, so you can turn and attack your buddies and spare them ammo and time. Besides, once you get infected you still retain all the knowledge you had before, so for example, if a guy who knew how to launch a nuclear strike gets turned, he'll still know how, which unfortunetely happened a lot during the early days of the outbreak, to the point of most of the Middle East and parts of America being completely uinhabitable radioactive wastelands

I can forgive the wife for making mistakes. Maybe except for accepting an anonymous call. But if I was in her situation and got a call at night from where I only recently woke up from, only to inform me im basically in danger I wouldn't be thinking straight. I would feel disoriented and afraid, and the added fact that my daughter is apparently dead would not help me calm down and think rationally. And I doubt she has even experience dealing with this. Sure, there are people who can handle this situation rationally but its not something I would personally expect from everyone. Hmmm... But yes I do admit the police not having their sirens is odd and maybe the wife could suspect something. Oh well.

8:55 Even my brother's kids know to ask who it is before opening the door. My nephew (the oldest) has always been tall, so he was able to reach up to unlock the front door before he had the sense not to do it for just anyone knocking. Since I lived close by and visited frequently, I made it a point to teach the kiddos. If I came over and they opened the door without asking who it was (even if they knew I was coming, it still might not have actually been me at the door!), I would make them close the door again so that I could knock, they could ask who it was, and then I would answer before they opened it again. That should be a standard thing kids learn.

If your wife is that dumb to immediately accept the reality of a phone call then she would have done something harmful to her daughter at some point. I mean when would the police EVER call you? They would definitely not know if strangers were in your house and them getting your phone number would be a multi step process. Plus the lady must know where her daughters bedroom is so why would she shoot someone leaving, not entering it? It would take moronic levels of ineptitude to actually fall victim to this exact prank not to mention no one would ever answer a random number.

I think one thing you heavily overlooked is the very high probability that the police would brush them off because they'll find their youtube channel and see the things they make and think it's fake, that probably wouldn't happen IRL, but in films that happens plenty of times, and would most likely happen here.

@@SkylerHatesAlice That is why I said "that probably wouldn't happen IRL" ... You have misunderstood what I was saying, I was saying that IN FILMS if it showed us police seeing it they would probably assume it's fake as that is something I have seen in films and have never seen the opposite, however if it was real life they would probably take it more seriously, please make sure you understand what is being said before responding, thanks!

@RandomPerson-sh9tu2 жыл бұрын
@@eeurr1306 Sorry, ik I didn't make it clear but I wasn't trying to say it was impossible either, in fact, I have no CLUE how they handle it irl, but i'd like to assume they would care, though I have no idea, but it's certainly still a possibility IRL, and if the video is about outcomes that can actually happen, that is still a potential outcome, though not sure how likely it is, though definitely still a possibility.
@RandomPerson-sh9tu2 жыл бұрын
Also I'd say there's 2 ways to interpret the video, 1 is how you would beat it if it happened irl, and the other would be if you were actually a part of it. It's not very clear which, so I interpret these videos as being how you would survive if you were IN the films, and in the films this is what would most likely happen, just depends on your perspective really.

honestly it probably depends on how thorough the investigation team is going to be. Like if everybody around sam would easily assume he is guilty including his parents mr.lee is likely to get away with it. But if people around sam would be sure sam is innocent and would fight for proof off that there is a chance they would figure out the truth. Problem is a bit tho that everybody but sam who encoutered mr.lee is death. And with sam being a known prankster its likely that they assume he is a good liar so him framing a random person will not make people bat an eye. So it 100% depends on if other people in sams circle that didnt encouter mr.lee would be willing to fight to prove sams innocence. If not then he is likely not getting out off it.
