Hi Oli, Great video! I’ve applied for the LEAP/FI course at leading edge and just passed the group stage. Next we have some psychometric tests to pass and then the final interview. Any advice would be really appreciated! Cheers!

Hi, congratulations on getting this far! It's hard to practice for the psychometric tests, there are some websites online if you look around. For the final interview, know everything about the course, how many weeks each stage is etc, know everything about the company as well as the current airline market. All the best!

I don't want to be a pilot but do have some questions for a pilot. Still an informative video though for those wanting to become a pilot 👌 I was just wondering. Do you adjust for coriolis? What do you use to navigate? Are the times you expect to fly for the distance accurate or are some flights longer and shorter than expected?

1. Yes we do! 2. Normally GPS is modern day but we can also use conventional nav aids. 3. Normally it is accurate but sometimes when we predict the winds they can be stronger or weaker then what we predict meaning the flight is quicker or longer depending on winds. Also sometimes we have to hold for various reasons which makes the flights longer. Hope that helps!

I have a question. There are some universities that do pilot training for only £9000 a year for 3 years. Is that the same as normal flight schools and will you be able to get the same jobs as someone who went to flight schools.

Great video mate, I’m currently considering if I want to follow the piloting route once I finish my A levels this summer. I was just curious regarding school grades. Are there any set grade requirements that the schools have or is it more a case of how motivated you are?

There are no A level grade requirements, I believe you need 5 GCSEs and as you’re doing A levels I assume you have that. It more comes down to the assessment day!

For most schools an for a pass in the uk you need 5 GCSEs with Maths, English and Physics. This will have to be at a Grade 4 (R-) or a Grade C or above/equivalent. Hope this helps!

@@xavier3930a levels have no requirements. So it doesn’t matter too much about what you get on those. Make sure you have a Grade 4/C or above in Maths, English, Physics and 2 other subjects. These are the requirements for *Leading Edge Flight Academy* 1. You must be 18 Years and over on the first day of training 2. You must have a UK Passport or Right to Remain in the UK 3. You must hold 5 x GCSEs / equivalent including English, Maths & Physics - Minimum Grade 4 or higher and be able to obtain a DBS Basic Disclosure Certificate for the purpose of an airport security Pass 4. You must start training within 12 months of sitting your Skills Assessment (or you will be required to sit another, paid assessment) 5. Skills Assessments are only for LEAP Courses 6. Applicants can reschedule their assessment if we are given more than 14 days’ notice Ok end of those instructions

Great Video Mate, Just having Few Questions. **After Completing ur Training, You got your Frozen Atpl then You applied for Airline then what happened after ?? Did they assign you for a type rating ?? On Which Aircraft?? What happened to the 1500hrs rule ??

He got his type rating on an a320, yes. Not sure wether it was lauda or not, but that’s what he did. He also did his base training and he got his 1500 hours through being a flight instructor in leading edge (I think, based of oli’s vids)

They are not the most important factor. The most important thing is the interview itself. But having bad grades does not hurt, it shows you are willing to work hard.

Hi Ben, great question! Personally, I don't think you would. I believe having the degree will appeal to airlines more but it's not vital. Or what route you went down. I think it's more about how you come across in the interview for the airline that really counts!

From your flight school you'll get a frozen ATPL and then you have to get 1500 hours to unfreeze it

I trained with Leading Edge who can give you a student loan for some of the money as you get a degree at the same time with them. Apart from that it was a mixture of saving up and a loan from my parents.

You can work for a while, do student loans like Oli says, or go to a dif country where it’s cheaper.

No you do not! You can start studying full time once you are 18. Some academys let you do a degree at the same time (which is what I did)

Hey Oli, I really want to become a pilot when I grow up but I have colorblindness and I'm afraid this will stop me from being a pilot, can I still be a pilot if I'm colorblind? (I have red-green colorblindness)

Hi, I’m not 100% sure. It’s best to speak to an AME.

Unfortunately this is a game changer. This colour blindness specifically is definelty an issue, and will auto fail you for your class one I belive. Being able to differentiate between red an is vital for instrument

So you need to be able to stay in the uk, unrestricted, without any issues and a British passport.

Integrated is a lot harder to afford without financial support from a parent for example , where as module you can work and collect your licenses as you can afford them . Integrated is around 90K to 120K in pounds and module is around 65 to 86 K depending on where you do it
