Good luck for the future, I am a 63 year old bloke ( I had an intense fear of flying with claustrophobia until I was 45 ...but conquered it through studying it from the ground up so I could understand why and how it is safe ) who isn't a pilot but is fascinated by flying. I hope every pilot has your attitude and outlook, you did well to not let COVID knock you off course. Cheers Ian.

In the US we have what we call “homeless” pilots.. since each trip you’re in a different city each night for the most part. If you actually schedule enough trips properly together.. you’ll never really have to be not working and/or in a non airline paid hotel lol.. so there are actually a lot of pilots who just travel and work without ever having an actual house or apartment.. some stay with family or friends when they are off but that’s it. Especially the single ones. Pretty neat to see how uncommon that is in Europe.
@PilotOli

@ yeah man. Its gnarly stuff. On another note, I’m considering going through the process and getting switched over to Europe to fly for a British airline/charter. Do you know of any good people to speak to in regards to an advice about that process? I’m just trying to find some other pilots over there to have as contact.

My dad was a flight instructor for BA. He says that most of the flight is done by radar. Imagine how many more crashes there would be if every flight was flown without radar and only down to the pilots. There must tens of thousands of flights every day worldwide. Radar keeps the vast majority pf those flights safe.

hey oli im really confused so To become a commercial pilot, is it necessary to first obtain a Private Pilot License (PPL) and progress step-by-step, or are there alternative programs, such as a 24-month integrated course, that allow you to earn a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) directly reall looking for your help
@PilotOli
@PilotOli 26 күн бұрын
That’s exactly right. So you can do your PPL first, build your hours and do it all yourself. There are also integrated courses (which is what I did) which take you from no experience to airline ready
