Standing in front of my high school english class, I would just start giggling, so I turned around to settle it out. In college, I volunteered to make and give a presentation on a whim, standing up there I pressed my hand into the podium and pushed through it. The first time I did youtube, I edited everything into long strings of two second clips, cutting out all my camera-shyness, now I sign stories in ASL, all in one go, sometimes hundreds of takes to get to the end, not even to get it completely right. My worst was becoming sooooo exhausted signing that my progress went backward, and the next time when I did it I completely broke down, and that was the good take.

I’m not sure if this is mentioned in the comments are, having someone else there - your camera person was there to support you. I’m not saying you’d not done these without a camera person but their very presence gives you accountably. I love this and use your wording when teaching public speaking. Thanks for everything!

You're so right. It becomes easier when there is another person (e.g. friend, camera person, etc.). It's actually best to do without anyone there. I like to include a friend though to update each other at the end of the day to share experience. That helps to keep the momentum!

i absolutely these tips. I came to your channel for storytelling advice, and stumbled on tips for public speaking by like the 3rd video, and now I'm officially subscribed! The list of constructive embarassment challenges I found funny as I imagined doing them, but GUESS WHAT? Although they may feel strange I can definitely see it being VERY effective!!
