Appreciate your insightful and practical advice! I find myself in a similar position without a CS degree, having an intermediate IT background, and aspiring for a DevOps role. The multitude of tools required in DevOps and steep learning curve is really daunting, and I almost considered giving up. However, your video provided much-needed encouragement, motivating me to persist. Thank you!👍

I'm glad this video helped keep you motivated! Don't try to learn everything at once. The knowledge will build over time.

Hey, I have a question, I'm an SDET who develops testing franework tools to write automated tests based on that framework (software automation development) , it involves coding and its challenging, it also involves DevOps, and the dev side in devops is interesting, I wanted to ask, from your experience in Devops and in tech, if I want in the future to make the switch to DevOps, can I still do a lot of coding and do most of my work via code such as in python? I know that each DevOps role is different from compay to company, but Im referring to a DevOps role that involves more dev than ops since im more into coding and DevOps is the future and cloud but I do wanna keep coding and I think it would be a huge advantage as a DevOps, love to here what's your perspective on this, because I am interested in movimg in the future into DevOps but I don't wanna give up coding, and I did not much like frontend development so Automation plays the middle man between all, Thanks!

Hey! Thanks for the question! You can definitely still do a lot of coding, it mostly depends on what area of DevOps you land in. If you're looking for more dev work, you might want to take a look at platform engineering. This is where you would help develop something like an Internal Developer Platform. The platform might do things like onboard a new development project that the organization intends to develop, so the platform would bootstrap a github repository, cloud resources, CI/CD pipelines, etc from a centralized web portal developed by the platform engineering team. It essentially abstracts away a lot of the complexity of "logistics" of the development workflow from developers so they can focus on just writing features. This is just an example but there's lot's of opportunity for development in platform engineering I think. I hope this helps!

Stop saying degree cause you don’t need one, I came from a Unix administration for enterprise with no degree at all and got hire 7 months ago to my first devops role
