As usual, a great video Yaro. Thank you for producing and sharing such detailed videos and knowhow that is indispensable for aspiring pilots. This may be a silly question but when you say you've got to keep studying while doing your Flight Instructor rating, I'm assuming you mean the theory pertaining to the PPL, CPL and the other ratings, correct?
@AviatorInspirations4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the great feedback! Yes, in order to be able to teach someone the information, you have to know it really well yourself. Just because you got your CPL and passed the theory, doesn’t mean you know it well enough to teach someone else. Always studying and digging into the books is the only way to improve yourself
@AbuRayyan.4 жыл бұрын
@@AviatorInspirationsYou're welcome! And thanks for clearing that up.. Makes sense. I just thought of something that you could potentially talk about during your next video.. What's your opinion on using a combination of simulation software, such as Xplane 11, flight controls like the Honey Comb Yoke (and perhaps their upcoming throttle quadrant), along with VR for training of student pilots or even keeping one's skills sharp? What's interesting is that I just saw a video wherein they showed a VR headset (the Oculus Quest) is soon going to receive an update that allows hand tracking, potentially letting people do away with VR controls completely! I'm imagining controlling everything inside the airplane in X-plane with your hands and it seems promising. What do you think?
@AviatorInspirations4 жыл бұрын
I’m not a big believer or fan of flight simulators, at least the ones you play at home, because it’s doesn’t actually teach you the proper feel of flying, and students who teach themselves often build bad habits that instructors will later have to un-teach later and that will cost you more money. They are great to learn systems, but that’s for later when transitioning to larger aircraft with standardized flight decks. They can also be helpful practicing IFR procedures, but again keeping the airplane on autopilot and just focusing on the gauges. I will do some research into the setups you mentioned, as technology is moving fast and perhaps there is some value in there.👍🏻

Seniority at an airline is decided on what basis ? Date of Joining or number of hours or both ? If I join, say, Air Canada with 2000 hrs but before me somebody else would have joined, say, 6 months prior, but with only 1000 hours, who is the senior here then ? Great Vlogs
@AviatorInspirations4 жыл бұрын
Seniority is always date of hire, your hours mean nothing at an airline. I haven’t updated my logbook in a year lol. That’s why the earlier you get hired, the better off you are.

You would need to convert your FAA license to a Canadian pilots license, and then apply for a work visa if you’re an international citizen. It’s often not worth it unless you plan on staying in Canada long term.

Is it a good idea if I dont get my MER initially and go for flight instructors rating with that saved money ? Will it hinder the job oppurtunities as a flight instrustor in the initial phase of my career?
@AviatorInspirations4 жыл бұрын
It won’t affect your ability to be a flight instructor, but as a flight instructor you don’t make much money to save for a MER + IFR, so you need to have a plan how you will become fully licensed. Plus if the school has a twin, you won’t be able to teach on that either until you get your ratings
@amitkp69575 жыл бұрын
Can one give flight instructions as a free lance CFI and if so, then would the student be able to log the hours towards the check ride for PPL or CPL. To get a CPL does one have to affiliated with a flight school as mandatory or can buy ground school courses online and give exams for ground schools, then get flight instruction from a freelance CFI.
@AviatorInspirations5 жыл бұрын
I am not familiar with the US system, but in Canada you need to become a class 3 instructor and then yes you can freelance and teach, either in your aircraft if you want to start a business or on the students aircraft. There is a lot more to it, but in theory yes you can. Again, this is the Canadian system and there could be different things in the US. However the headache might also not be worth it instead of simply working for a flight school.

There are no programs that guarantee a job, as there are hundreds of international students that come to Canada each year, and there aren’t that many jobs available. There are also no “best” programs as they all have to teach to the same standard. However, pick a school that doesn’t have a long wait list and is able to help with whatever you need in your training

Nobody at 250hrs dreams of being a flight instructor, but it’s a viable path to your first job. It’s a simple fact, being a flight instructor will help you land your first job. Whether you “should” become a flight instructor is a separate question, and I actually cover that in a future video. What would be your suggestion?

I have another video about Life of a Flight Instructor, this video was about becoming a flight instructor. Not everyone has the passion to teach, yet it’s one of the few entry level jobs, and that’s simply a fact of the aviation industry whether you like it or not. Some pilots develop a passion for teaching once they start, so nobody should discourage someone from becoming a FI.
