“How do I become licensed to practice law in Canada?”
This is probably the most popular question I get asked.
The NCA series will run for the next four weeks.
Writing the NCA exam is the first hurdle to cross in order to become licensed as a lawyer in Canada. NCA is compulsory in every province in Canada. Most people are aware of this but don’t know how to start the process or if they can start the process in any other country.

I give a general overview of the NCA and how to start the application process. The first thing you need to do is find out if you qualify to apply.

@@epichighlights9835 I don't know if your lack of work experience can can affect your NCA Assessment, thats for the NCA to decide. However, I do know that you'll be typically assessed on the following courses: criminal law, constitutional law, professional responsibility, administrative law, and foundations of Canadian.

That's a broad question because it depends on the visa. You can however get a TRV before writing your NCA Exams.

Oh I guess there is no way for practice law in canda if you don’t have work experience in your home country?! I only did my masters and currently doing my phd so any advice if will be possible without prior work experience ?

It is possible to practice law in Canada without work experience from your home country. I'm practicing law in Canada and I did not have experience from my home country.

For someone who went to the Law school at Agbani, Enugu, can he or she go to Enugu to request for their tanscript to be sent to NCA or they must go to Law School Abuja to make the request? Can someone get the letter of good standing from the various NBA State branch he or she belongs to? E.g Ikeja NBA, Warri NBA, Lagos NBA e.t.c.

1. I believe you can make the request from the Law school at Agbani, Enugu. I went to Bwari Law school so I made the request from Bwari Law school. 2. You must get the letter of good standing from the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

@@msresaluv I didn't pay any amount to the Supreme Court to get a letter of good standing, and you can confirm with the NCA if they have received it.
