I know that Jorge doesn't like CompTIA, however Sec+ opens the door to government side. The roi is definitely there for that one.

@@NetworkEngineerAcademy Sorry to burst the bubble on A+ but there are big companies that demand the A+ period regardless of what type of IT position you are looking for. One company big and hires a lot of Network and IT admins around the country(sorry cant mention there name because i work for them) min requirements is a MANDATORY A+ it says on the Indeed/Dice/Monster job postings. Reason is this company wants everyone working for them to at least have A+ as a requirement for employment. I applied got as a junior Network engineer and the job posting was like this A+ Absolutely required(in bold black letters) then CCNA and/or CCNP, Comptia Sec+ and VMware(preferred). But as you can see how they emphasize the A+ regardless of the much more valuable CCNA/CCNP.

Your videos are incredibly inspirational and right on point. Your plan is similar to what I've been doing *instinctively* and *informally* over the years (and taught others to do when I was a freelance college instructor), but you've laid it out in a very precise blueprint and schedule. Truly excellent. It also really struck a sympathetic chord for me when you talked about struggling as an immigrant. I have many friends from Brazil who have had to learn the language AND master the technology, and it's a daunting challenge. Respect. I went through something similar when I lived in Tokyo and had to learn Japanese to survive. It's not easy. You have to reach deep down and find a lot of inner courage and strength to persevere. I want to join your masterclass when I have an income again. But in the meantime, you mentioned posting questions. I wondered if you might dedicate a video to the topics of VOIP and cybersecurity? Thank you again for all your amazing, hard work! I've never been so inspired before!

Guru, when hiring a network engineer that has years of experience, justifying a potential rate increase I am typically looking for someone that is a SME. I have placed network engineers on long term contracts for over 200k many times. This comes down to many factors such as the geographic location of the contract or position and the area of experience. Typically master level VoIP SME engineers have the highest potential for earnings. Over 10-years of experience and an IAT level III CompTIA certification are also very helpful (Sec+ is a must for GOV contracting with clearance). CCNA helps, CCNP makes you very visible. However a Network Engineer with a CISSP is a rarity and a guaranteed high earner with the proper years of hands-on experience in a particular area. Very respectfully, and all the best to you and your career fellow Cisco R&S.
