@Cam.manisy2 жыл бұрын
@@giandeleon1711 nah bro. 16 is around the perfect age to start but 18 is still early and you have more than enough time if you have some natural talent and skill already. Most pro champs start around 16 so 18 is still very young. Deontay wilder started at like 27 and he was the champ. You are good. Most of these kids that you see on the internet boxing at 8 years old getting hit in the head, they have all this skill but will have a career ending injury before they make it. Highschool-24 is a great time to start honestly. As long as you have natural talent. You can catch up.

The problem aswell is guys turn up a gym train for a bit start sparring with people the same level as them then the coach makes them believe they are the next Canelo or Crawford till they spar someone decent and they get their ass handed to them. It's OK to have self belief but understand that in boxing there are levels at every point and it's upto you to keep pushing up to the next level,your not at the top level because you beat up some guy in sparring at your own gym.

Imagine if pro boxing had similar requirements to the other professional sports. For example, what if it was required that every boxer has to have amateur experience on the national level, such as a Olympic trials or being one of the finalists in the golden gloves, similar to how nfl and nba players first have to show their worth in college.
@the-gman77973 жыл бұрын
Exactly,if you get chance listen to Teddy Atlas on Joe Rogan and you will realise where the problems lie in boxing. You can't have the judges,referee's etc all having lunch with the promoter of the show and all paid for by the promoter of the show. Its corrupt as fck.

Hey coach I just stumbled upon your content for the first time. These are great heads up advice that I needed to hear. Do you have a guideline for those like myself looking for sparring partners outside of there gym? I train in Muaythai right now I’m 30 5’9 120 pounds more or less. I know that my skills are at a basic level but the people I’ve found so far at my weight, have not been able to push me. I know there are young guys out there less weight than me and could totally kick my ass which is why I’m asking how should I approach another gym and person so that I don’t come off as some kind of arrogant ass hole. Idk if I could last against a real game amateur non the less a professional. I also don’t want to get my ass kicked in sparring because they think I’m being an asshole. Advice?

Shoot your shot. But you have to actually sacrifice a lot, to master the basics, to give all your time to the sport of boxing because you’re gonna have to catch up .
