I train like I was competing in boxing but have no intentions on getting in the ring and putting my health on the line. I just love the sport and the perks of it. I’ve never been in this type of shape since I’ve been training like a boxer. I’d say boxing is a lifestyle. You don’t have to be a fighter though. Only thing I don’t like and prevents me from competing is the consequences of brain damage. Boxing is no joke, it’s not a game.

Slipping 3 discs in my lumbar spine. L5/S1, L5/4 and L4/3. Look after your back first is my best advice ! I damaged mine when i was a tradesman floor layer and lifted up a roll of vinyl flooring and popped a disc. Over the years i boxed and adopted an aggressive style with lots of head movement and bobbing and weaving which took its toll on my spine even more over the years. Now i train a little bit but get disheartened because i cant even do core training, i.e burpy jumps, sit ups etc, without my lower back aching from my discs bulging and pushing on my sciatica nerve 😣

I love boxing. And I love the training too. But lately I've been cautious about my brain health. I already had 2 amateur bouts which I've won but to this day my family still constantly discourages me from continuing. Personally I don't see boxing as a future career and I have no desire to be a pro because of the risks and sacrifices I have to make. I have other options and I don't want to end up developing CTE at an early age too. In the US or other countries where boxing has a long history, people pursue the sport to literally fight out of the dumps and feed their families. But where I come from, boxing training is quite pricey (especially for a student who is working part-time) and not as big in terms of the pro scene. I'm still thinking deeply about what to do onwards with my boxing journey. I don't want to waste all these years just on being an amateur since injuries are still a big thing, plus I'm not getting paid for it at all. A really tough decision to make but I still don't have a clue what to do.

However, I go home from sparring with a sore body and busted up face - nothing extreme, but the expected niggles from boxing - and I can't let go of the thoughts of: are my organs being damaged, am I damaging my brain over time, and the thought of losing brain function or any kind of body function and becoming a vegetable or a burden on my family into the future is what I fear. I've recently quit karate, but the reason why I quit is because I didn't love it anymore. Before I started martial arts in general, I knew that I wanted to learn how to have a high level fight. I wanted to do sparring. Learn new and interesting combinations. And win a fight. But when I joined karate, I didn't get that. We did horse stances and kempos (combinations) but it wasn't real fighting. It was mainly punching the air, we didn't talk about different punches like the upper cut and hook.. and the punches we did learn couldn't be applied in a real fight, and my sensei told me that most if what we learned couldn't be used in a fight.. We also did sparring but it was one touch, one point. Not too competitive. And soon I got bored with it. Honestly. I didn't stop going because I was tired, or I didn't want to workout, or train in general. I stopped going because when I thought of the end result, I didn't like what I saw. I didn't see what I hoped to become. But I still feel a little torn by it. Idk. My mom said I'm a quitter, but what's the point of training in something that you don't like or want to do. Especially if the end result is a result you don't care about.

Ive always thought there are four cornerstones of success, they apply to any grind where you have to be the best. Not just boxing They are : Discipline - explained in the video Mental minerals- the mental fortitude to become obsessed over hard work and never get discouraged ,instead using the negative emotions to further fuel passion and hard work. Skill- which is skill you gain through hard work. Your hard work must lead to results and not be in vain. It is also a little bit of natural aptitude, which could link to the next point. Luck- whether you like it or not luck is always involved. It may being born in a first world country, or being born with no disabilities, or living near a top level boxing gym for example and not living in quiet countryside. Also being born to a wealthier family always helps as long as the luxury doesnt spoil your mind. If you can manage all of these, success in anything is basically garanteed.

@anarchy0m8243 жыл бұрын
Work out more eat less, when you gotta lose that much weight you just have to be on a calorie deficit and not eat carbs especially if you want to lose it quick. If you don’t have carbs in your body your body uses fat for energy. Also cutting out sugar obviously.
@RacerX-1243 жыл бұрын
I cut from 240 to 175 in about 7 months. My diet consisted of oatmeal, eggs, low carb tortillas, vegetables and fruit, lean meats, and plenty of fluids. You don't really need to starve yourself, but you need to eat right and work hard. I was training 2-4 hours a day, 4-5 days a week and running or walking on one of my off days. A key thing for me is avoiding processed carbohydrates - potatoes don't really hurt my progress, but sugary candies, cake, pie, etc. can really make me sluggish and cause me to put on the bad kind of weight. As for power, just keep working your technique. Maybe consider using weighted gloves a couple times a week. For me it came from practice, being mindful of technique, and my over all fitness. But don't get so infatuated with your power that you fail to build your boxing skills, or you won't get to really enjoy the sport.

Now I've been sidelined for over a year watching my friend who I used to beat get better than me.. Like, as much as I'm happy for him, I dunno. Dude just keeps telling me that he can't wait to sparr me, when I'm over here on the couch healing for a year, and he's over there fighting warriors 24/7. So the shit seems unfair as fuck and it just shows his character, but at the end of the day, if I can't beat someone, I'm gonna keep trying until I do. Can't wait to get back in the ring, feel that humbleness and the fatigue like you're about to die and can't breathe. There's no better feeling.

There's no goal, or point, to reach. The industry is so rigged, that nobody knows how, to turn pro. If you wanna imagine a future, and keep yourself, in shape, go ahead. If you wanna get hit, in the head, until you're cerebral is slow, go ahead.. if you just want your friends, to say, you're boxing, occasionally, during their day, to day conversations, go ahead .. but trainers, ripping off fighters, for money, and retired referees, opening gyms, to rip off young dreamers, and their parents, of their money, during early years, destroyed, this industry, long ago. SMH the MMA PUBLICITY STUNT is destroying the sport, now.. you really got fake matches, taking place, for millions, while the real fighters, struggle, to pay gym dues.. I mean MMA charges $200 a month, gym dues.. that's to keep a diaspora, from the poor community out, from participating.
